Up for sale is a wonderful antique glass and bronze lidded tobacco jar. The bronze lid features a removable lid along with a match box holder on the top with an embossed cameo design. It mounts to a thick clear glass jar with a gorgeous silhouette. It has acquired a lovely patina from age, in good used condition and measures 9 3/4 inches tall by 5 inches wide. Swiss Black Forest Cigar Chest Animalier Fan Tail Pheasants up Top, 46 cigars. All items and photos are the express property of Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. Wonderful late 1800s hand carved Swiss Black Forest cigar chest with hinged lid and swing-away sides, holds 46 cigars. The bottom has a drawer, as well. The old original lock has its key and does work to lock away cigars. A bold big and really beautifully carved pair of fan tail pheasants up top, for a hunt and Animalier theme. The chest is nice-sized and surprisingly will hold a large number of cigars. Measurements noted on the photos. Cigar length for closed casket can be up to 4 1/2″ long, smallish and holes are 5/8″ in diameter or slightly less. Very good to excellent condition for age and type, late 1800s and likely a Grand Tour souvenir. Very nicely preserved carvings, no losses on the birds other than a narrow shaving-like chip to one wing. The box, itself, should have had, or once did have feet. You can see that looking at it from bottom. There is a slight rise to the very far right of the lid, when closed, but you really must be looking directly on to see it. There is a drawer at the base and it has an abbreviated nob, perhaps chipped from original but it is still there and it works. A little looseness at joints but solid and seems just a factor of age. Beautifully carved and a serpentine form carved in a nice way. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! Our fine inventory is very important. Impressive authentic humidor box made by HEINTZ, heavy bronze with sterling silver overlay design on lid, in the mission / arts & crafts style of the period c. This handsome box originally housed a cedar wood removable lining and a perforated metal plate that slides in the underside of the lid. In more recent times, a blue felt lining has been placed inside which is easily removed to reveal the original interior metal surface. Appropriate patina and light general wear: no attempt has been made to polish any surface. The bottom of the box shows the Heintz logo, 4078-B, Sterling on Bronze, Pat. 10″ x 6″ x 3. Early C20th mahogany Dunhill “Airtight” cigar humidor, cylindrical on shape with twelve (dodecagon) cut sides above three bun shaped wooded feet. The one piece turned bevelled edged mahogany lid lifts off to reveal the lead weight airtight seal with Dunhills PATENT number 11832/13 together with the London address and the silver foil lined interior of the case. The lid has been turned out of one piece of wood. Dia 15.8cm widest point. Light wear overall, the lid showing a more visible tiny scuff. The cigar box which has a lovely polished patina to the mahogany is excellent.
