Up for sale is a magnificent, museum-quality vintage/antique solid brass presentation casket and tobacco humidor. This piece was meticulously crafted by the prestigious Barbeitos workshop in Lisbon (Lisboa), Portugal. Every single inch of this heavy, footed brass box tells the epic story of the Portuguese Age of Discovery. It serves as an incredible historical narrative captured in high-relief metalwork. &####127477;&####127481; HISTORICAL ICONOGRAPHY ON EVERY PANEL. THE LID (TOP): Prominently features the iconic Tower of Belém (Torre de Belém), the historic 16th-century fortress and ceremonial gateway to Lisbon. Floating above it is a traditional Portuguese Caravel (Nau) sailing vessel, emblazoned with the Cross of the Order of Christ. THE FRONT: A dramatic, high-relief mythological maritime scene depicting a caravel caught in a tempest. It features the Greek god of the wind (Boreas) and the fierce sea giant Adamastor-the legendary personification of the rough Cape of Good Hope from Luís de Camões’ epic poem, “The Lusiads”. Excellent antique condition with wonderful structural integrity. The hinge operates smoothly, and the lid shuts securely. The brass shows a gorgeous, untouched natural patina with minor surface tarnish and oxidation spots on the bottom, which adds to its authentic historic character. The internal cork lining sides are incredibly well-preserved, fully intact, and completely free of major cracking, the interior cork top has some cracks and is warped. Antique humidor / tobacco box by Bradley & Hubbard Mfg. An interesting early decorative humidor with a cedar-lined interior and wonderful aged character. The interior retains a pleasant cedar aroma. Thick brass exterior with a warm bronze-tone finish. It shows considerable age-related wear, surface wear, discoloration, oxidation/tarnish and other signs of long use and storage. There is a hardened white/gray residue or deposit in an interior corner. It is solid rather than loose or powdery, and I have intentionally not attempted to remove or clean it, as I did not want to risk damaging the original interior. The humidor has not been restored or refinished. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the condition description. A genuine Bradley & Hubbard piece being offered for restoration, display, collection, or decorative use. 9½” L × 6½” W × 3½ H.

Antique Arts & Crafts Benedict Studio 207 Hammered Copper Cigar Humidor Box. Signed with mark of Benedict Studio & is marked “207” on the underside. Measures 10 1/8″ in length, 6 7/16″ in width, and stands 6 1/2 in height. Great condition retaining a wonderful darkened patina. There is some very minimal light oxidation to the interior. I noticed one small dent on one side that is very hard to notice, see last photo.

There is some damage and I have photographed it; the left-hand top corner of the box and the dog’s tail has been glued back on at some point. Great period early 1900’s Arts & Crafts hand crafted and hand hammered copper and sterling silver cigar humidor/box by Bailey, Banks & Biddle. The box is clearly marked “BAILEY BANKS & BIDDLE” “COPPER AND SILVER”. 9″ across x 5 3/4″ deep x 3 high and it weighs approx. One of the hinges needs a touch of silver solder(see photos) otherwise it is in very good original condition with only expected wear, tarnishing and interior cleaning. I did a light polishing but did not want to get rid of all the patina. (please view all photos for the best representation of quality and condition). Please look at all the photos to get a good idea of the true condition, the photos are part of the description. The items I list are primarily antique or vintage and may have some minor flaws. I try to mention all damage or wear to the best of my ability; but I don’t hold these pieces to the same standard as I would if they were new. I have an antique tiger wood cigar box. The inside is line with one divider. All the silver tone pieces are there. The bottom is marked and I’d say this is from the late 1800’s? There is a little button knob foot missing on the bottom. Other than that this is a beautiful piece. Measures 9.5″ x6″ x 4. Please ask any questions you may have.
