Hello, up for sale is a stunning antiques cigar cigarette box. Beautiful box made solid cast bronze and lined with wooden panels inside. Hinged lid box with Imperial Russian motif, double head eagle with Imperial symbols. Allover decorated with organic ornaments grapes, vines and paradise birds symbol of galore. The box is artist signed in Cyrillic with embossed letterings AB on the lid edge. Very good preserved box with mellow patina on bronze. Found at estate sale in Paris. Here is a gorgeous antique cedar lined humidor made of heavy cast bronze/brass. It measures 7-1/8 inches long, 6-1/8 inches deep, and is 3-1/2 inches tall. It is entirely decorated in Greco-Roman relief vignettes depicting soldiers on horseback, courting couples, a god and goddess like figures, framed in ornate decorative geometric designs. It is in excellent condition with original patina. These boxes were often silvered, but I do not see any traces and can’t imagine how it would wear off so completely with all the peaks and valleys. It does not have a maker’s mark or any other marks to indicate its origin, but I have seen similarly decorated boxes marked Made in Belgium. Please review the photos for a complete description. We do not know color or clarity, and do not know natural from heated, enhanced, or synthetic. We either rely upon marks for metal purity, or test for gold content. Or perhaps bonbons for the gentleman? I can’t affirm that it’s a cast bronze panel. I think it is a lighter metal, really, but it has the patina of bronze and is gorgeous. A wonderful idea for a Holiday gift! Very good to excellent condition for age and type, the old box top has not been dented nor damaged. The wood is nicely preserved and shows age and just the right amount of roughness. Dove-tailed joints on corners and a mitered corner for the top which frames the cast woodland scene well. Some scrapes on the bottom, consistent with age. There are supports on the interior sides which indicate there would have been a lift-out tray. That tray is no longer with the box.
