Antique Wind Up Music Box 2 Airs 1882 Cigar Humidor Hinged Box Silver Decoration. Measures 6 1/2″ x 9 7/8″ and 5 1/2 high closed. It is a footed box which is rather unique – 2 ball feet in the front and 2 peg feet in the back, it sits nicely level. The top silver decoration Art Nouveau cigar leaf with word cigars looks like it might be sterling but I could not find a silver mark. The bottom base wood panel has a crack. The box is complete other than the key for the lock which we do not have. There is an old paper label on the bottom that I can read “2 airs” but not much else can be seen clearly. The wood finish and the magnificent silver top Cigars decoration have a nice aged patina. Please see my 12 photos. Guaranteed a genuine antique late 19th century musical humidor box. BEAR TOBACCO JAR MUSIC BOX. Black Forest Figural Wood Carved Humidor c. This is an Awesome BEAR TOBACCO JAR MUSIC BOX Black Forest Figural Wood Carved circa 1950. This tobacco jar music box. Is dark brown in color, with some decorative color accents, (photographed in natural light, the photos appear lighter than actual color). Is well modeled in deep relief with very good carving and detail. Depicts a seated bear carved in Black Forest style. Has an expressive face, a mouth with teeth, glass paperweight style eyes, ears straight up. Has a custom top, the head lifts open, and is fitted to the body; the base container, with a brass hinge, is the body of the bear with four outstretched paws; the base is hollowed out as a tobacco jar. Has a Thorens MUSIC BOX built into the base, which is activated by a string attached to the top; when the lid is opened the music box is activated- it plays There is No Place Like Home and Way Down Upon the Swanee River. The music box has been serviced, cleaned and oiled, and it works. Once the lid is closed the two songs stop after being played through. Has a round plinth elevated base with three small rounded feet; the underside has the winder key and access panel to the music box. Tall x 5.5 In. Wide x 6.5 In. The estimated date is circa 1950. The BEAR TOBACCO JAR MUSIC BOX Black Forest is in very good condition. Condition status includes minimal normal wear and rubbing. Overall, this work is sound, having no chips, cracks, or major defects, and having had no apparent repairs or restorations. Please see all photos which are a part of this description. Brevete SGDG Moveable Humidor and Music Box. Handwritten Label Still Attached. This is a fabulous piece! It’s 10 tall, heavily decorated. Operates perfectly and is excellent inside and out. There are some missing parts inside. One pics shows the missing holder. One small repair on base but in no way affects the provenance this piece provides. Here for sale we have a nice old antique musical box humidor for restoration. This would make a lovely project for someone. Looks like most of it is there. The wooden base with the musical movement is not attached to the main body it must of had some screws etc to attach it. The musical movement wind up and runs but could do with a service. Please see pictures for condition of comb and cylinder. The humidor has 6 panels that open and close when the musical movement runs this will all need checking as the musical movement wooden base is not fitted to test this. It looks like it may of had something attached to the outside of each door panel now not there. There is one loop cigar holder to fit back as shown and one is missing the rest are fitted to the doors. The round base looks like it has had some repairs where the sections join together over the years. The size is approx 300 mm height x 190 mm diameter.
