1930s EGYPTIAN Revival Embossed Brass Wood Lined HUMIDOR / CIGAR BOX, Smoke Set. 1930s BRASS CIGAR HUMIDOR BOX. Wonderful heavy embossed brass Egyptian Revival design box measuring 8″ wide, 5-1/4″ deep and 2-1/4 in height. Featuring bun feet, a lift bracket and hinged lid, interior is lined with wood – possibly intended as a cigar or tobacco humidor box. Condition is lovely with no dents, rust, cracks or damage other than a few spots on the top as shown – there is dulling to the lid surface from age – it has not been polished – a hint of trace paint or coloration within the detail. This item dates from the 1890’s to the 1920’s and is the heavy bronze metal cigar holder. I don’t see a place for a moistener, so I think it was just a box to hold the cigars. The rack inside has the openings of 5/8 which would be the size of the cigars. This rare item measures overall 7-1/2′ wide across the handles and is 9-1/2 tall. Good condition, I see no damage or issues. There are no marks or numbers that I see, but a great design overall with a lot of details. Just now, I’m offering here a marvelous and scarce German Art Deco era cigarette/cigar box. Important lidded box by Koch&Bergfeld featuring Egyptian revival motifs at all sides. Fine silver plated box marked on the bottom with Koch&Bergfeld key mark; lettering” Feinsiber Auf.’ and retail store Egyptian motif mark, unidentified by me. It is absolutely great example of Art Deco decorative arts, in my opinion professional artist work. It is richly decorated with repousse motifs on brass with many Egyptian scenes, Pyramids, Warriors, Temples, Lions Hunting and featuring on the lid Egyptian Pharaoh on Chariot. The box lined inside with mahogany wood on bottom and on sides to be used with cigars. The box is excellent preserved for its age with fully presented silver plating. Found at an estate sale in Frankfurt, not sure of its exactly history other than it came from an estate of a world traveler and antique collector. Fantastic & rare antique French Napoleon III era Empire Revival style 11 3/8 cigar box, tantalus or presenter in solid oak with brass accenting, a spectacular bronze Blackamoor style Middle Eastern figure & dog with his tent! Isn’t this one magnificent! A rare early piece, this one in solid old growth European oak and the figures are both heavy, solid bronze (not the bronze patinated white metal you see in later pieces). Influenced by the Napoleonic French Empire, when the Oriental campaigns introduced foreign styles, figures and goods. The gent dressed rather opulently, smoking a pipe and seated on what appears to be a drum. One of our finest right now, don’t miss it! Very good condition, age considered. You can see there there are one or two missing brass strip accents and some tarnish here and there. A few age or drying splits or cracks but in overall great shape. The figures are both pristine, the seated figure’s bolt on the base of the box is a replacement though. The interior of the box with the original cigar fittings. Here is a gorgeous antique cedar lined humidor made of heavy cast bronze/brass. It measures 7-1/8 inches long, 6-1/8 inches deep, and is 3-1/2 inches tall. It is entirely decorated in Greco-Roman relief vignettes depicting soldiers on horseback, courting couples, a god and goddess like figures, framed in ornate decorative geometric designs. It is in excellent condition with original patina. These boxes were often silvered, but I do not see any traces and can’t imagine how it would wear off so completely with all the peaks and valleys. It does not have a maker’s mark or any other marks to indicate its origin, but I have seen similarly decorated boxes marked Made in Belgium. Please review the photos for a complete description. We do not know color or clarity, and do not know natural from heated, enhanced, or synthetic. We either rely upon marks for metal purity, or test for gold content.
