Not only is this a quality vintage late 1940s Gorham sterling silver box, it is also a unique part of the “Mad Men” Era Mid-century Americana. By his Board of Directors. On the outside, it is engraved with all of the Board’s signatures along with the logo of the company. The inside is inscribed, Presented To Richard B. / By His Board Of Directors / November 22, 1949. ” On the bottom it is marked “Gorham, ” with “the lion passant” for British standard of silver, “an anchor” signifying their Rhode Island origins, and the letter “G” for the company’s initial, then “Sterling” for the metal purity, and finally “302 for the model. The box is lined with cedar. In total, it weighs 507 grams. It measures 6 1/2 inches by 5 inches by 2 inches. It is in excellent condition with extremely light wear for its age. There is no other box in the world like this. It is worth more than its weight in silver and would make a great addition to anyone’s collection!
