Antique Edwardian Mahogany With Inlay Case Crystal Benson & Hedges Cigar Humidor

The mahogany case house a superb crystal humidor container with stopper, the container stopper is marked on the bottom Benson & Hedges, Pat. 26, 08 (for 1908) and etched in the glass G1366, this etched number is also etched on the bottom of the container. This unusual piece provides an elegant home for large quantities of cigars or other tobacco products. This is indeed a premium humidor there is no key thought a locksmith could probably provide one. Benson & Hedges was founded in London in 1873 by Richard Benson and William Hedges as Benson and Hedges Ltd. Alfred Paget Hedges succeeded his father in the business in 1885, the same year which Richard Benson left the business. In 1900 Benson & Hedges Ltd. Opened branches in the United States and Canada. Piece that will make a collector very happy!!! . These charges are the buyers responsibility. Measurements: The piece measures approx. 10-3/4 (27.3cm) Tall x approx. 8 (20.3cm) Wide. Rare old PUNCH CRYSTALS all glass box CIGAR HUMIDOR with seal NO CIGARS blue velvet PROVISIONAL cigar advertising. What a great find – RARE & UNIQUE – for the cigar connoisseur patent applied for. This is a very special DESIRABLE cigar box with the bottom provisions (SEE PHOTO) these boxes were to be destroyed after usage. Ideal for the executive desk accessory man cave cigar buff. NOTE: 1st PHOTO OF BOX IS STANDING ON ITS FRONT – as I had difficulty with glare. Fabulous old cigar humidor type glass box. 7L x 6 ¼W x 3. PUNCH CRYSTALS graphic in silver & black. A little normal age / usage wear on the graphic. At one time held 50 cigars empty now. Stained glass style construction with the clear glass panels inserted into channels. Magnet sticks to the channels, bottom & hinges. Channels show age related rust polishing up to the end user. Four sides & top are glass with the bottom being metal (magnet sticks to bottom). Glass is in nice antique / vintage condition with only a few small surface scratches. Free of cracks. One very small glass knick on the lid side edge facing left (photo #10). Fancy somewhat Gothic looking steel? Hinges some rust (polishing up to the end user). Interior bottom lined in a rich cobalt blue velvet. Free of tears. FANTASTIC UNDERSIDE METAL BOTTOM. Half of the original stencil seal remains as shown. RARE imprinted in black with 4 statutes & provisions (contact for information on the imprint). Metal shows signs of age rub wear. Box only – most likely, Canada? Original contents were probably, from Cuba? And distributed by / in Canada. Age unknown: perhaps, mid-century? Feedback will be left when feedback is received. Beautiful burlwood box with Lalique glass inset, in excellent condition. Signed “Lalique, France” on corner of glass inset as well as brass tag inside. Includes original box, key gauges, operating instruction booklet, and dust cover. Dust cover has a small stain (see photos). Box lid has 3 corners split (see photos).
