Antique Solid Cedar Cigar Tobacco Case Box All Brass Hinges / latches / Corners

Solid Cedar Tobacco Case w/. Brass All Brass Fixtures. Probably Was For Commercial Use. Offered is an antique solid cedar tobacco / cigar transportation box. The very well constructed case measures 13″ x 9″ and has the interior rails for a tray. The exterior is stained a golden brown but the interior is full, natural untreated cedar. All of the joinery is very tight. The lid is spiked to the base to prevent lateral movement when closed. All of the corners as well as 2 padlock hasps, the top handle, and the hinges are brass. There is a thumb latch that is only designed to keep the lid sealed but not locked. Since the case has two padlock hasps, it suggests that the case itself was used to transport fine cigars. Very nice example of a rare solid cedar cigar transportation case. You are protected against damaged or broken items or items different than pictured. Early Abalone Shell Inlaid French CIGAR (Cigares) Humidor Box Birdseye Maple

This is a fine early French cigar humidor box adorned with carved and decorated abalone shell throughout. The box itself is constructed of Birdseye or Curly Maple over white pine – the escutcheon plate is a hand- cut piece of shell – top is adorned with shells of carved flowers and leaves with the outer edges of entire box being adorned with small diamonds of shell inlay. All inlay is complete and the interior still retains its original silver foil liner. Box is hand made and is not a commercially produced box. I would date it to the last quarter of the 19th century, to possibly the first few decades of the 20th century. A nice overall humidor for those who collect – box measures 10 1/4″ by 6″ inches and stands 3 3/4 inches high.
