Signed inside by celebrated VISHNYAKOV– awarded numerous gold Imperial medals. Retains original interior tin foil paper. Well loved– inside retains the lingering aroma of tobacco. Lid– hand painted– portraying Russian woman peasant and two Cossacks. One playing the accordion and one dancing– kicking up his heels. Rare to see Cossack dancing on Russian boxes– usually painted are Troika sleds. Wear commensurate with age and use. Thumping, bumps and wear on corners– see images. Crazing on painted lid, but painting itself is in very good condition. Hinges are strong and stable. Approx– 5 3/8″ by 3 3/8″ by 3 1/4 h. Hard to find early signed Box.
