CHICAGO Illinois IL Label Carved Mahogony Wood with Milk Glass Lined HUMIDOR Box. Has two metal clips to hold in a moistened sponge which is no longer present. Weighs over 6 pounds before careful packing. Has a lock but I do not have the key. Has original label on the bottom as shown in last picture. 12 x 8 1/4 x 5 1/4 tall. Very good condition, the extension arm to control how far the top lid opens has broken out of the wood trim on the top as shown in the last pictures, could use some tlc to repair or removed completely. The mahogany case house a superb crystal humidor container with stopper, the container stopper is marked on the bottom Benson & Hedges, Pat. 26, 08 (for 1908) and etched in the glass G1366, this etched number is also etched on the bottom of the container. This unusual piece provides an elegant home for large quantities of cigars or other tobacco products. This is indeed a premium humidor there is no key thought a locksmith could probably provide one. Benson & Hedges was founded in London in 1873 by Richard Benson and William Hedges as Benson and Hedges Ltd. Alfred Paget Hedges succeeded his father in the business in 1885, the same year which Richard Benson left the business. In 1900 Benson & Hedges Ltd. Opened branches in the United States and Canada. Piece that will make a collector very happy!!! . These charges are the buyers responsibility. Measurements: The piece measures approx. 10-3/4 (27.3cm) Tall x approx. 8 (20.3cm) Wide. Antique Swiss Black Forest HC Cigar Cabinet, Chest, Box, 3 Trays for 30 Cigars. All items and photos are the express property of Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. A spectacular 1880s to earliest 1900s hand carved Swiss Black Forest lift-top cigar cabinet, 11.5 wide and with 3 trays, holds 30 large cigars for service. Beautifully carved on all sides, florals and forest look, a monogrammed shield cartouche up top. I know you’re going to ask me the initials. I’m guessing at it, as I can make it be TPC, or HB, either one. You’ll have to see what you make of it. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. The chest is raised on bun feet, and there really isn’t any warp, cracks, hairlines. It would have initially had 6 trays, but it looks balanced with the 3 excellent ones that remain with it. They’re all carved nicely, too. One thing to note is that the actual lock mechanism is missing. The pin half of the lock plate is there, and keyhole, but the lock has been removed. Doesn’t hurt the look any, as you have to go searching under the fold-back lid to see it’s missing. Photos show it from all sides, and it’s in very fine shape throughout. As you can see, it’s in a medium light wood, and it shows off its serpentine edging and bas relief carvings very nicely. All measurements noted on the photos. We’re easy to deal with.
