An interesting Edwardian Cigar box/dispenser made in Oak with Brass Hinges, Decorations, Handle and Cutter. Made in the shape of a coal box with the shovel on the back forming the cutter. Inside the lid is a striker plate to strike the matces on and on the top a small removable tray either for ash or more likely for the matches. Cigars of up to length 12cm can be fitted inside. The amount you can fit in would depend on the size, 100 Hamlets or 25 Henri Winterman 1/2 Coronas aproximately. (Cigars pictured are not included). The overall size is 17cm tall (with the handle). Antique Victorian Oak & Brass Cigarette & Cigar box or humidor, complete with working lock and key. Please note to operate, the lock needs to be held open using the key (unlocked) before the lids are replaced (pushed down against the spring loaded mechanism) before releasing the key to lock the lids in place. They cannot be pushed shut without doing this. To unlock simply turn the key and both lids will pop up by a small amount. This is a very old and much loved piece, there have been repairs and modifications over it’s long life which include a repair/replacement to one lids latch (right hand side) and a piece of wood cut in under the left hand side of the lock body as well as some small patches of wood stain or paint. These are all done with charm and add to the story of this functional but beautiful addition to anyones collection. A small drawer with a brass handle has also been added at some point to the front, to store matches perhaps? Making this a unique item. There are two wooden cedar? Lined compartments and it has a brass carry handle, two engraved brass plaques on the lids read cigarettes and cigars. The corner decorations are plated brass, as are the hinges, and there is a brass escutcheon to the lock. Size is 9 and 1/2 inches wide x 6 and 3/16 inches deep x 4 inches in height. Up for sale is a high quality antique 19th century handmade wooden marquetry cigar humidor box. It’s crafted with elaborate design consisting of hand cut and inlaid marquetry detailing throughout and finished with a floral detailed velour lining underneath. This lovely hinged box has a tapered lid and is lined with a tin metal lining meant for cigar preservation. It has an elaborate Art Deco cast iron locking mechanism on the face but does not have a key. It’s in nice used condition and measures 11 inches long by 7 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches tall.
