Large Antique English Hunting Scene Cigar Box / Humidor Paris Retailer c. 1900

A fabulous and very unusual cigar box or humidor, English made around 1900. The box is silver plated with a wonderful bark design with the glazed lid having a handsome English hunt print with hand painted detail. Unusually this example comes with a working lock and key. The interior of the box is fully lined in Cedar wood which was the way the cigars were kept fresh; a humidor as such is a modern invention. The box was clearly made for a French retailer, the cedar lining signed by the Paris retailer; E. Lenoir, 49, Boulevard des Capucines, Paris ; one of the four’grands boulevards’ of Paris, France, a chain of roads running east-west that includes the boulevard de la Madeleine, the boulevard des Capucines, the boulevard des Italiens and the boulevard Montmartre. Beautiful Cigar Box hand made of gorgeous wood and given a high shine finish. We are not sure the capacity but the outer dimensions are approx just under 12″ wide x 9.5″ deep x 5 Tall. It is a gorgeous hinged box with an extraordinarily beautiful wood grain. Outside bottom is lined with red velvet/felt. Looks much better in person as the high gloss makes it difficult to get accurate photographs. Shows some age with minor surface wear and is in overall very good condition. LARGE antique handmade Partagas table top burl wood marquetry cigar box humidor

Up for sale is a large high quality antique Partagas table top cigar box. It’s made by hand out of high quality burl wood and done with an inlaid marquetry design. The box is beautifully footed and has a working skeleton key lock on the front. It opens on a hinge and in nice condition measuring 16 1/2 inches by 16 1/2 inches by 5 inches tall. The box is missing a small piece of trim on the back corner, has a crack to the bottom interior, and missing the inside removable shelf. Which will be a charge of 7% due to New Jersey state law. Please make sure to look at all pictures very closely before purchasing, as most pieces in my shop are non refundable. Most items are antique or vintage and could have usual ware from age.
