Vintage French Leather Bound Books Smokers Box, Presenter for Cigars, Histoire de France. All items and photos are the express property of Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. Fabulous vintage French smoker’s presenter box with hidden storage for cigars & cigarettes or cheroots in the from of a stack of antique leather bound books, this one with actual individual leaves or pages in the lid, gilt embossed bindings including a crown topped armorial style crest on the lid, entitled Histoire De France and in wonderful condition! Quite unique, we’ve offered these in the past and they always sell as quickly as we can get them listed. With the look of two old leather bound volumes but hidden inside is a dual-lidded compartment for cigars in the base and fittings for cigarettes or cheroots under each lid! As realistic as they get and, I’m sure the top book is genuine with several individual pages in the top! Open the lid and there are numerous individual pages above the lower smoker’s compartment. The first page entitled Histoire De France by Tome Septieme and a bit further in is the Parisian editor information and an ink stamp in the top right corner of that page. The bindings are somewhat aged but gilt or gold leaf lettered and the set is in great condition, age considered! Also a gold embossed stamp on the base of “Made in France”. Good to very good condition, age & materials considered. As said, these are two actual antique texts but we think the conversion is vintage. A few spots at the edges of the bindings with some wear and/or damage but, as you can see, it’s in overall wonderful condition. There is a bit of tearing to the right side of a few pages just above the compartments, all visible in images. See pictures for all measurements. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! High quality antique handmade wood brass cigar tobacco humidor holder box case
Up for sale is a high quality antique 19th century wooden cigar box. It’s made by hand out of a varnished oak wood and has thick brass appliqués on each corner and edge. The lid opens on hinges exposing the lovely reticulated metal interior and has a mechanism on the side that stops the lid from opening over 90 degrees. It also has a very detailed solid brass pivoting carry handle mounted to the top of the lid. It’s in very nice condition, has acquired a great patina from age and measures 12 inches long by 7 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches tall. It is missing the key for the locking. Rare Rockwell Kent’Sally’ Art Deco Cigar Box. 1928 rare Rockwell Kent’Sally’ Art Deco cigar Box. The image on the lid of the box is attributed to Rockwell Kent, a famous early 20th c. The image depicts Sally Kent Gorton his wife and widow. The image was designed in 1928 for an A. Spalding & Brothers (men’s only store – 520 Fifth Avenue, NY) magazine advertisement. There are very few of this particular box available. Rockwell Kent had the image etched in the lids of some brass boxes, made by Chase Brass and Copper Company and gave them out as gifts to friends and business associates. This particular box has been well cared for. The inside of the is clean and in very good condition and I guess re-felted. The brass on the outside has developed a nice patina and has other signs of normal age. The box is marked A. Spalding & Bros on the front rim and EPCO on the back rim E. Is The East Prospect Cigar Company, Pennsylvania. Approximate dimensions: 18cm wide x 14cm deep x6.5 cm high.
