BIG Antique 19th c. Brass Moorish Gothic Tobacco Humidor Betel Lock Strong Box

This extraordinary hand-crafted 19th century sheet brass box in the Moorish gothic style appears to combine tobacco and betel storage and measures4″ tall (5 1/2″ with bail handle) x 8″ x 5″ overall. The decoration features chased openwork sheet brass appliques and the hardware is handmade. Inside the lift-out tray has two covered compartment with pierced hinged lids and the lid appears designed to hold thin wood panels for moisture protection. The box has its lock intact (no key) and the hinges work nicely. You will note scattered expected dings and dents and old polish residue in the details. Stunning Large Antique French Cigar Caddy, Cabinet, Box 13″ x 10″ Marquetry Chest Holds 48 Cigars. All items and photos are the express property of Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. A very masculine ebonized trim and marquetry against the natural hardwood. Four sliding cigar trays, each holding 12 cigars, and the drawer below for your implements. The cigar cutter/tool shown came with this cigar cabinet and will stay with it. Lots of photos to show you how beautiful it is from all views. It has the strong French aesthetic of a Napoleon III era chest, but I think it is a bit later, perhaps c. Full measurements noted on photos. Very good to excellent condition throughout. No chips nor cracks, no warp. We do not have a key to fit it at listing time. It had top quality hardware, and we will search our key stash to see if by chance we have one to fit the lock but at listing, we do not have a key. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! Rare antique 18th century Georgian C. 1750 – lead tobacco box with the original tamper featuring a horse head finial. The typical long pipes are depicted on the two sides. The octagonal form features the original richly decorated cover of vine leaves & grapes has the most popular design of the period, with an acorn designed finial. But in 1910 it was undoubtedly used for tobacco. Created by the E F Caldwell Co of New York, this silver on bronze box is very heavy and we’ll constructed. Measures 4″ x 7″ x 2 tall. DESCRIPTION Amusing Majolica monkey pianist tobacco jar made by Sarreguemines around 1880. Rarely found complete with his lid the chimpanzee wears pants, jacket and cravat. As he sits at the piano with his dour face there are music sheets strewn around by his feet and two books titled “opera” and themes. The stoneware cigar holder humidor is usually painted and was a factory blank. It is marked on the underside with the shape number of 231 only. This is a good example of anthromorphic art in porcelain and often called the “Music-loving Monkey” or “Monkey on the piano” by collectors. Stamped: 231 This would suit any vintage coffee table, porcelain collection. A great housewarming or early birthday gift idea. MEASUREMENTS Porcelain humidor measures 8″ tall by 5″ deep by 9 wide and weighs 3lb 10oz. CONDITION In good usable condition and ready to display. There is a large chip from lid at the top of the piano, another edge is chipped, a third edge has a crack in it and the vase on top is chipped. There is also a missing chip from the bottom edge near the foot and his tail is missing (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
