Or perhaps bonbons for the gentleman? I can’t affirm that it’s a cast bronze panel. I think it is a lighter metal, really, but it has the patina of bronze and is gorgeous. A wonderful idea for a Holiday gift! Very good to excellent condition for age and type, the old box top has not been dented nor damaged. The wood is nicely preserved and shows age and just the right amount of roughness. Dove-tailed joints on corners and a mitered corner for the top which frames the cast woodland scene well. Some scrapes on the bottom, consistent with age. There are supports on the interior sides which indicate there would have been a lift-out tray. That tray is no longer with the box.
