High quality antique handmade wood brass cigar tobacco humidor box case stand
Up for sale is a high quality antique 19th century ornate wood and brass smoking box. It’s made by hand out of a varnished oak and has ornate brass appliqués on each corner and edge along with very elaborate handles on each side. It has a unique feature that when the upper hinged lid open it mechanically opens the lower cigar storage drawer on the front. The box has a skeleton key locking mechanism on the front but is missing the key. It’s in very nice condition, has acquired a great patina from age and measures 10 3/4 inches tall by 12 inches long by 7 1/4 inches wide. Welcome to Antiques & Moore! THIS LISTING IS FOR A NICE ANTIQUE ENGLISH WALNUT CASE FULLY LINED HUMIDOR WITH KEY. BOX MEASURES 11″ LONG, 8 1/4″ WIDE AND 6 1/2 DEEP. WEIGHS 9.6 POUNDS. THIS NICE HUMIDOR HAS A BEAUTIFULLY GRAINED WALNUT CASE AND ORIGINAL KEY. THE BOX HAS A LONG BRASS “PIANO” HINGE THAT OPENS AND CLOSES CORRECTLY. THERE IS A CHAIN THAT CONNECTS THE TOP TO THE BOTTOM TO HOLD THE BOX IN AN OPEN POSITION. THE INTERIOR OF THE LID IS LINED WITH A SLIGHTLY DISCOLORED CHALKY TYPE SURFACE THAT KEEPS MOISTURE FROM THE CIGARS AND HAS PROBABLY DISCOLORED FROM THE FUMES OF THE TOBACCO OF THE CIGARS. THE BASE IS LINED WITH A WHITE GLASS ON THE FOUR SIDES AND ON THE BOTTOM AND THIS LINING IS IN EXCELLENT, UNDAMAGED CONDITION. THE BOX/CASE HAS A NICE BRASS LOCKING MECHANISM WITH A BRASS COVERED KEY HOLE AND COMES WITH ITS ORIGINAL KEY. THIS NICE HUMIDOR IS IN VERY GOOD ESTATE CONDITION AND IN APPROPRIATE CONDITION TO BE USED TO STORE CIGARS. THERE IS AN AGE/STRESS CRACK THAT EXTENDS ACROSS THE LENGTH OF THE TOP WHICH IS OFTEN FOUND ON 19th CENTURY BOXES REGARDLESS OF THE TYPE WOOD USED IN CONSTRUCTION. THERE IS ALSO A SLIGHT SEPARATION IN THE SEAM WHERE THE WOOD JUST BELOW THE TOP OF THE BOX. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF FAINT SURFACE SCRATCHES AND MINOR DINGS IN THE WOOD FROM NORMAL WEAR AND A VERY SLIGHT NICK ON THE BOTTOM OF ONE BACK CORNER.
