VINTAGE wooden Desk Top Cigar Humidor BOX for petite cigars/ circa middle 20th Century or earlier. Closes very well and tight. Very beautiful box, nice feeling when you handle it. It is carved of wood, looks like Rosewood. The size is petite, for cigars no longer than 4 inches (10 cm). The box measures aproximately 120 mm x 90 mm x 24 mm. Has some minor signs of wear, some scratches, worn off varnish in couple places underneath and one tiny nick on the top right side corner. The box has some size as it measures 6 1/4″ wide by 2 1/2″ tall and 3 13/16 deep to the outside rivets on the top of the box. The cigar box displays a rectangular shape and has a wonderful deep mottled and frothy green or frog skin patina that Heintz made famous. This is the favored patina with the Heintz collectors. This box has a cedar liner in the bottom and a slot on each side of the top lid in which I believe a screen that held moisture was kept. You rarely find these with the screens. The top of the box has a silver overlay pattern in an art nouveau motif along its border. It is also monogrammed in silver with the initials E. This box is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no major dents or dings. The lid opens and closes with ease. It is only lightly sprung on the front left but closes 95% of the way. The patina is excellent and only shows minors signs of wear. The piece is signed on the underside bottom with the impressed post patent diamond mark with the number 2649 also impressed just above. Below the diamond mark it is also impressed Sterling on Bronze pat. 27.12″ There is also a number “64 impressed I believe this to be the shape of the box number. These same number appears in the top right hand corner of the lid when opened. It is actually upside down on the lid. There is also a number 7F40 lightly scratched upside down under the number 64.
