Early Abalone Shell Inlaid French CIGAR (Cigares) Humidor Box Birdseye Maple

This is a fine early French cigar humidor box adorned with carved and decorated abalone shell throughout. The box itself is constructed of Birdseye or Curly Maple over white pine – the escutcheon plate is a hand- cut piece of shell – top is adorned with shells of carved flowers and leaves with the outer edges of entire box being adorned with small diamonds of shell inlay. All inlay is complete and the interior still retains its original silver foil liner. Box is hand made and is not a commercially produced box. I would date it to the last quarter of the 19th century, to possibly the first few decades of the 20th century. A nice overall humidor for those who collect – box measures 10 1/4″ by 6″ inches and stands 3 3/4 inches high. Large antique cigar humidor. Germany, early 1900’s, made of wood and bronze. Depth : 6.5 in. Weight : 3lb & 3oz. Great overall condition, heavy, for 24 cigars, no key, 2 bronze ornaments missing : 1 on the front right and on on top. My name is Greg, I’m a French guy who had business in Charlotte NC for 3 years. Unfortunately, I had to move back to France because of a slow activity. I fell in love with the US, particulary Charlotte! So now my only goal is to return to Charlotte, and for that I want to export French furnitures and antiques there! This idea came because of my love for wood and history. It is a great area to find valuable furnitures and smalls because of the proximity of wealthy ski resorts like Megève and Chamonix Mont-Blanc. It is also close to Geneva (switzerland), about 45minutes by car. The Geneva area is one of the richest in Europe due to finance and whatchmaking. Italy’s not to far as well, 40 minutes. Gorgeous honey colored tiger oak repurposed humidor from the early 1900’s. The box measures 10 5/8″ long x 7″ deep x 4 1/2 tall. Inside is 9 3/4″ long x 6″ deep x 3 7/8 tall. Assembled using 1/2 thick solid oak using a splined miter joint. Eased edges on lid. Blank brass engraving plate. Refinished with several coats of Satin MinWax varnish and hand-polished with 0000 steel wool and paste-wax for a soft luster. Fully lined with new dark green felt. Early 1900s Golden Oak Tabletop Cigar Cigarette Tobacco Box with Compartments

A very unique and finally crafted smoking set box. Made in golden oak with brass fittings, the box has compartments for cigarettes, cigars and tobacco which each open with a spring release button. The tobacco compartment has inside a wooden and heavy metal tobacco tamper which would be placed on top of the loose tobacco. Both sides have small drawers on the bottom which are both labeled Ashes & Lights in the same script used to denote top compartments. There is also a place to strike the matches on either side of the drawers. The bottom of the box is stamped twice with the initials JCB. Condition: In excellent antique condition. Tobacco compartment release is loose so it can not be picked up by the handle. There is wear to each match striker and the ashtrays have remnants of ashes. Measurements: 11 x 5 1/2 x 4 5/8. No apparent makers mark. Measures about 6 by 5″ and is about 4″ tall. Has a copper plate on the lid for engraving.
