Wonderful 1920’s – 1930’s footed tobacco box or cigar box. This is a wood box covered with a thin leather layer and lined with milk glass. The leather is embossed with an Egyptian motif, with some muted coloring. The top shows an Egyptian queen holding a lotus flower in a papyrus (felucca) vessel with a servant rowing, the Nile shows in the background and more flowers are around the boat. The sides are decorated with more lotus flowers. It is 8″ x 4 3/8″ x 3 1/4 high and has a latch that opens by pushing a small brass button. The glass lining is intact without chips or cracks. Here and there it has some minor scrapes in the leather, mostly on corners and edges. There is a small area of leather missing, about 2 1/2″ x 1/2″on one end and the leather on the bottom has some cracks. Please look at the photos carefully, they are part of the description. The last 3 photos were taken with a flash, the rest were in natural light by a window. I enter the actual weight of the package and E bay calculates how much it will cost to go from my zip code to yours. If it seems excessive, it is just due to where you live and the weight of the package. My goal is to get items to you undamaged, but I have received many items broken, the post office is not very careful I’ve discovered. If something arrives and the box looks like it’s been mishandled, please take a photo, then if there is damage get a photo of the damage and send these to me so I can start a claim.
