The Excel 3.0 is a small humidifier that is fully automatic. Just plug it in using a paper thin power cord and it’s ready to go. The large LCD displays the humidity and temperature in the humidor and displays the current set point. The unit comes with a refillable, replaceable water cartridge that uses distilled water only. Please Note: Cigar Oasis is making a transition in late 2020 to sending empty cartridges with Excel 3.0 units. At this time, some units we have been receiving have the pre-filled cartridges and some do not. If you receive one with the empty cartridges, you will need to fill the cartridge with distilled water prior to use. Which Cigar Oasis model do I need for my humidor? Ultra 3.0 = Humidors with up to 1.5 cubic ft. Of internal volume and up to 100 cigars. Excel 3.0 = Humidors with up to 4 cubic ft. Of internal volume and up to 300 cigars. Plus 3.0 = Humidors with up to 8 – 10 cubic ft. Of internal volume and up to 1000 cigars. Magna 3.0 = Designed for larger end table and commercial applications up to 60 cubic ft. Generally, the Excel and all Cigar Oasis cartridges can be refilled with distilled water 5-6 times before needing to be replaced. Over time and refills, the mold retardant inside the cartridge will dissipate therefore causing the cartridge to hold less and less water. Typically, you can go around 2 years on one cartridge assuming refilling every 3-4 months. How well your humidor seals, the design of your humidor and how many cigars you have inside your humidor will affect how long you can go between cartridge refills.
