Sleek lines that will fit any decor, particularly modern, or mid-century modern, this is an antique to vintage French crafted cigar chest I’d date c. Typical of the French, the wood is just magnificent. Heavy quarter-round brass trims out outer perimeter of lid and base, and wide brass stringing accents front and top. There are 3 well-preserved slotted wood trays within which will offer up 30 cigars to friends, associates. This is not a humidor. There is no humidifying apparatus. Entirely in wood, please don’t try to install one as it will warp the old wood. Nice large one, the full measurements will be found on photos. Very good to excellent condition, a single hairline crack to left center of top of lid (marked with x) is about the only flaw to point out. It has 3 nicely preserved sliding trays. When all the way in, they don’t seem quite lined up right. Might just be me and a bit of a rush. I wonder if it might have once had a harrow drawer at bottom, and it’s been adjusted. Not sure if that’s the case. The working lock has original key. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! Our fine inventory is very important. Antique French Napoleon III Era c. 1850-70 Cigar Cabinet, Chest, Presentation Box, Holds 50. All items and photos are the express property of Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. Another elegantly crafted cigar presentation cabinet – not a humidor (no moisturizing element inside) this is the cabinet at table or desk in den, and holds up to 50 cigars. A slightly smaller version than the last several we’ve offered, this cigar cabinet is 9″ x 7 5/8″ and 8 1/2 tall when closed. Raised just a bit on lathe-turned wooden feet, accented with brass boulle cartouche and stringing, canted corners – it’s a beauty! Still has its working lock and key, too (rare). Very good to excellent condition for age and type, it is not pristine, however. As with almost all of these old ones (150 + years now), it has some signs of age. While it has all 5 original trays, and they all have their original knobs, I can see that one tray has broken and been repaired. This is a quite common occurrence, owing to the way they’re grooved for the cigars. I’ve marked it with an “x”. There is a little roughness to top left cover/top – like 3 lines on the old wood, slight age shrinkage from look of it. On opposite side of lid, from top view, you can see a spot which could use some ebony filler. The old hardwood veneers are beautiful, elegantly contrasted and the pencil edging up top, wood corner-round, rather than brass edging is just beautiful. The old braced hinge and lock are each upper-grade hardware. The anchor/brace keeps the lid from tipping too far back when opened. It’s beautiful in use. These never last long in our shop. DIMENSIONS: 5 1/4″ tall, 4″ across base – around 6 long from back of head to tip of nose. When you remove the lid though you’ll see someone has broken and glued the interior back together. Louis XV Rocaille style. France, Mid-1900’s, made of wood. Great overall condition, really big and heavy, nice Rocaille style carvings, probably probably for cigars. My name is Greg, I’m a French guy who had business in Charlotte NC for 3 years. Unfortunately, I had to move back to France because of a slow activity. I fell in love with the US, particulary Charlotte! So now my only goal is to return to Charlotte, and for that I want to export French furnitures and antiques there! It is also close to Geneva (switzerland), about 45minutes by car. The Geneva area is one of the richest in Europe due to finance and whatchmaking. Italy’s not to far as well, 40 minutes.
