Antique Hand Carved 11.5 Swiss Black Forest Cigar Cabinet, Chest, Box Holds 55 Cigars. All items and photos are the express property of Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. First thing to tell is that we photographed this one very soon after cleanup and our usual wood oil and beeswax preserving treatment and that is why it’s shiny. It will fully absorb and will not be shiny. There is no shellac nor varnish – only the original stained wood. Not the’fruits of the hunt’ carvings I love most, but with superb carvings of mountain flowers and brach-like edging plus all-over incised carving designs, including the inner drawer and cigar trays. I’d guesstimate this is c. Double hinged top folds up and displays back when you serve cigars, 5 trays will hold up to 55 cigars (each has 11 carved fittings 5.5 long). Additionally, the drawer at bottom holds smoker’s implements, cigar cutter, and/or more cigars. It is a server, not a humidor. Please do not try to add water – it will warp and ruin it. Full measurements noted on photos. Very good to excellent condition for age and type, about 100 years old now. I can see 2 flaws to note: visible really only from the sides, the top panel is slightly warped upward at front and back – it isn’t visible unless you’re looking directly at it from either side. It is evenly so, which makes it less problematic. There is one chip to a long bas relief grass leaf on backside. I’ve added in an enlarged photo (beneath the one of the box’s bottom) to show that chip. Underside of the leaf, it doesn’t show from most viewing angles. A large and elegant one, entirely hand carved Swiss Black Forest chest. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! Our fine inventory is very important. Ammo Can Humidor ammunition box non-lethal hand grenade cedar lined + hygrometer

Used ammo can converted into a humidor. I lined the walls and bottom with solid cedar planking, and I wanted the top to be lined also; alot of the can humidors I was looking at at the time did not have lined top. The top is a genuine cedar laminate–that is, that plank is lined on both sides by a thin cedar layer. The inner layer is some fibrous material. The removable top has a good removable hygrometer attached via magnet, it just needs a new button cell battery (2032). I stored standard Dominicans in it as well as fragrant Acid cigars and some pipe tobacco (in a package / bag) also. To me, it smells wonderful. I fashioned a crude removable divider as a way to neatly separate and stack some some ring cigars, which is included. If you’ve never owned one of these, they do an amazing job of keeping in moisture and if you used a good slow-release system, it can store cigars for years without them drying out nor getting moldy. I’m winding down my smoking years so it’s ready for a new home. Unique, to me, as it stored rubber ball non-lethal hand grenades. Don’t see that every day. ANTIQUE HAND WROUGHT IRON CEDAR LINED CIGAR / CIGARETTE BOX by GOBERGCIRCA 1910. ANTIQUE HAND WROUGHT IRON CEDAR LINED CIGAR / CIGARETTE BOX. ARTS & CRAFTS MEDIEVAL REVIVAL PERIOD C. Goberg was the epitome of the Jugendstil artist, the German equivalent of the Arts and Crafts movement that was very popular worldwide. Very few of his pieces made it to the U. And have all become quite scarce. This piece of signed Goberg. Ironwork is a solid hammered iron box with a hinged lid and is lined inside with cedar wood. On the top of the lid there is an iron heart medallion along with a second medallion on the front. Both are attached with small iron rivets. On the inside the box is lined with cedar wood found in humidors was intended to be a cigar or cigarette humidor, or for jewelry, trinkets, et al. The piece is 6 5/8″ long, 4 1/2″ inches deep, and 2 1/2 inches tall. The inside dimensions are about 5 9/16″ x 3 3/16″ x 1 7/8. It is hand-crafted from a thick gauge of hammered iron so that the box is heavy for its size, weighing 1 pound 4 ounces, or 568 grams. Overall, in excellent condition with aged patina. This piece should not be cleaned as it would ruin the look and diminish the value. On the underside of the box is stamped Goberg, and dates to around 1910.
