Made of solid wood construction, and gold-tone hinges with finely crafted swing limiter and signed Lalique France nameplate, felt-padded divider sleeve of hardwood and original key. Glass is signed Lalique France in bottom right corner. 1994 – Marie -Claude Lalique – Loupe Madrona. Frosted Crystal – Burlwood. Length: 24 cm / 9.44 Inch. Height: 8,8 cm / 3.46 Inch. STUNNINGLY CUSTOM HANDMADE WOODEN HUMIDOR/CIGAR BOX BY CHARLES TEDDER OF HIGH POINT, NC. EXTERIOR MEASUREMENTS ARE 14″ LONG X 10 1/2″ WIDE X 5 HIGH. A THIN BLOCK OF WOOD INSIDE THE LID CAN DISPLAY YOUR NAME OPPOSITE THAT OF THE CREATOR, CHARLES TEDDER. NOTE SLATS IN THE TOP TRAY TO ALLOW THE MOISTURE TO PERMEATE BOTH LAYERS OF STORED CIGARS. LID HAS THREE HINGES TO PROVIDE STRENGTH. THE MAIN WOOD ON THE TOP AND THE BASE OF THE BOX IS CHAK-KOK WITH ACCENT PIECES OF EBONY AND HOLLY (WHITE). TEDDER’S WOODCRAFT IS EXTRAORDINARY AND WELL-SOUGHT AFTER. Charles is a fourth generation wood-worker. “From the time I can remember, I was handing my father his tools”. He spent most of his adult life working for Hatteras Yachts. For most of those years he was manager of Quality Assurance. “I maintained a wood-working shop as a hobby and to relax myself after wearing a tie for eight hours”. In the early 90’s, after twenty five years with Hatteras Yachts, Charles went into business for himself and chose to start an antique furniture repair business. About five years ago I made my first humidor for a friend. He ordered six more and by word of mouth I was swamped with requests for custom, one-of-a-kind humidors. Charles says he has made over three hundred humidors with no two ever the same. “I sign and date each one and never make another one exactly like it”. I work with over thirty different types of domestic and exotic hardwoods. I don’t use any wood that is on the endangered list. I have always lived in North Carolina and love this state. Antique 1800’s Cigars Humidor Box Rosewood, Burl Veneer & Mother of Pearl Inlay & Lock. For your consideration is a very beautiful antique cigars box. Very well crafted from high quality wood with burl veneer. Exquisitely inlayed with mother-of-pearl floral garlands on top and and small rhombus pieces at the edges. Mother of pearl around the key hole as well. Incrusted silver wire outlines the cut out from white, silver metal label on top: CIGARES – in French. The original foil paper inner lining almost entirely remains. The locking mechanism looks in good order, the key has been lost unfortunately. Very classy and stylish early humidor. Circa mid/late 19th century, French or Chinese Export for the French market. 10.25″ x 6″ x 4. Weighs about 1 lb. Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos below. No splits or restorations. Minor scuffs and scratches here and there, one piece of the silver wire highlights, outlining the center part on top, has been lost; altogether commensurate with age and use.
