Louis XV Rocaille style. France, Mid-1900’s, made of wood. Great overall condition, really big and heavy, nice Rocaille style carvings, probably probably for cigars. My name is Greg, I’m a French guy who had business in Charlotte NC for 3 years. Unfortunately, I had to move back to France because of a slow activity. I fell in love with the US, particulary Charlotte! So now my only goal is to return to Charlotte, and for that I want to export French furnitures and antiques there! This idea came because of my love for wood and history. It is a great area to find valuable furnitures and smalls because of the proximity of wealthy ski resorts like Megève and Chamonix Mont-Blanc. It is also close to Geneva (switzerland), about 45minutes by car. The Geneva area is one of the richest in Europe due to finance and whatchmaking. Italy’s not to far as well, 40 minutes. Large Antique English Sterling Silver Mounted Oak Cigar Box / Humidor 1903

A really good sized cigar box made from solid English Oak, all the fittings are made from solid silver including the handle. Each of the silver mounts is hallmarked for London 1903 together with the makers mark (unidentified). The key is turned to the right which releases both lids to be opened. The lids snap shut and automatically locked so you should ensure never to leave the key inside the box and close! The cedar lining is the original way to ensure the freshness of cigars; not a humidor as such as they are a modern day invention. There is one large compartment and the left hand side has a divider that can be moved or removed to create a second large compartment. Edwardian in era and remaining in excellent condition measuring 11 3/4″ x 8 1/4″ x 7 1/4 to top of handle. This item is in the category “Antiques\Other Antiques”.
