Antique Edwardian Mahogany With Inlay Case Crystal Benson & Hedges Cigar Humidor

The mahogany case house a superb crystal humidor container with stopper, the container stopper is marked on the bottom Benson & Hedges, Pat. 26, 08 (for 1908) and etched in the glass G1366, this etched number is also etched on the bottom of the container. This unusual piece provides an elegant home for large quantities of cigars or other tobacco products. This is indeed a premium humidor there is no key thought a locksmith could probably provide one. Benson & Hedges was founded in London in 1873 by Richard Benson and William Hedges as Benson and Hedges Ltd. Alfred Paget Hedges succeeded his father in the business in 1885, the same year which Richard Benson left the business. In 1900 Benson & Hedges Ltd. Opened branches in the United States and Canada. Piece that will make a collector very happy!!! . These charges are the buyers responsibility. Measurements: The piece measures approx. 10-3/4 (27.3cm) Tall x approx. 8 (20.3cm) Wide. Up for sale is a high quality antique handmade mahogany cigar box. It’s made out of a hand sculpted mahogany base and embellished with a ornate hand engraved brass insignia inset on the lid with its lettering reading “WPK”. The lid opens on hinges exposing the lovely quality milk glass interior surrounded by cedar walls. It’s in exquisite condition and measures 10 3/4 inches long by 7 3/4 inches wide by 4 inches tall. Here is a wonderful old well built white glass lined mahogany wood tobacco/cigar box with working lock and key. Box appears to be a Dunhill by the construction but does hot have the label. Box is in solid condition with some wear including scuffs and scratches. Lid fits well with a good seal. Box exterior measures approximately 12-1/2″ across x 8-3/4″ deep x 7-3/4 tall. Key is not original to the box but does work. See pictures for more details. Beautiful early 1900s repurposed and refinished cigar humidor. Made of solid mahogany. Measures 10 3/4″ long x 7 1/4″ deep x 4 1/4 tall. Inside is 9 3/4″ long x 6 1/4″ deep x 3 3/4 tall. Sides are 1/2 solid mahogany assembled using the splined miter joint for strength and esthetics. 90º hinges keep lid open during use. Lock, escutcheon and monogram plate are solid brass. Refinished with several coats of MinWax Satin Varnish and hand polished to a soft luster with 0000 steel wool and paste wax. Bottom is fully lined with a hunter green felt and inside of the lid uses the same material. Lock works, but no key. Lid has a slight twist from age.
