Rare antique signed Dunhill hand painted porcelain wood tobacco jar humidor box

Up for sale is a very rare antique signed Dunhill porcelain and wooden tobacco humidor/jar. It’s made in a square box style format with 4 hand painted inlaid panels. The porcelain panels are done with a realistic approach and rich color depicting intricate bird scenes. It has a carved wooden spring loaded lid that turns to lock tightly into place when not being opened. When the lid is removed it exposes the metal lining that has some slight paint loss. It’s signed on the bottom by Dunhill and measures 7 1/4 inches tall by 5 1/2 inches wide by 5 1/2 inches long. In very nice used condition. Which will be a charge of 7% due to New Jersey state law. Please make sure to look at all pictures very closely before purchasing, as most pieces in my shop are non refundable. Most items are antique or vintage and could have usual ware from age. Vintage / Antique – age unknown. Outside – 28 cm long, 8 cm wide, and 6 cm high. Inside – 25 cm long, 5 cm wide. Size infers it was made to fit premium quality Cuban-type cigars. Heavy 1110 grams in weight. I think it has a porcelain base – which makes sense as a material that would help maintain inside temperature (humidor) under the decoration. It is a really lovely box – looks and feels like a quality piece – especially so with the substantial weight of materials used. Unlike plain timber vintage/antique cigar boxes it looks good AND is made of materials that help maintain the inside temperature. I used the word’Rare’ because I was unable to find anything even remotely comparable through online searches. If you can find anything similar, please let me know. Antique handmade wood leather toleware painted cigar humidor Folk Art box trunk

Up for sale is a high quality antique handmade wooden Folk Art cigar humidor box. It’s made with exquisite detailing throughout out of dense wood and has a leather wrapped domed lid wrapped in leather. The leather is painted with a figural knight scene and fastened with large brass studs. The box is also painted on each side with gorgeous design done in rich color. It has dimensional mounted cold painted praying figures on each corner along with 4 outward facing lions. The handle pivots up and down on a ball joint exposing the hidden key lock underneath. It opens on a hinge and features a removable handmade toleware box that has a compartment for a humidor block under the lid. The box is in nice condition, has acquired a lovely patina from age, and measures 14 1/2 inches long by 12 1/2 inches wide by 11 inches tall. LARGE CIGAR BOX WITH PAINTED SAILFISH ONE OF A KIND BEAUTIFUL. FISHERMANS ARTDECO CIGAR BOX with sailfish. HANDCRAFTED IN COSTA RICA by Carlos Vaccaro. It is made of solid Spanish Cedar wood. Machine painted SAILFISH with 3 coats of ultra-clear top grade lacquer and our. Fusion baked finish is applied to protect this very nice cigar box. It has brass hinges and magnetic clasps and the Lid Seats Perfectly on Box it also has a removable tray. The tray was left unfinished so the aroma of the Cedar is prominent. This is a Spanish cedar box and the box is in new Condition. Felt pads have been applied to prevent table scratching. This box will hold 150 to about 300 cigars depending on the size of the cigars. Approximately 50 in the removable tray. Measures approximately 12 in length by 10 wide by 5 high and weighs 2.36 lb. Spanish Cedar is widely used as a construction timber in South America, as well as for furniture and paneling. But in North America, Spanish cedar is really known for its very distinctive fragrance, and thus as the wood of choice for lining humidors, cigar boxes and cigar wrappers. Applications for the wood also include craft projects, high-end cabinetry and furniture, clothing chests, interior joinery, patterns, lead pencils, boat building, canoe decks and musical instrument parts. Antique Hand Painted Wood Humidor with Porcelain Lined Lid. Box for Cigars Tobacco Tea. Here is a very beautiful wooden box most likely intended for humidor, since the lid is lined with porcelain. Very dark, almost black wood finish with hand painted oval cartouche to the top. Manly design for a sophisticated gentleman. Probably used for tobacco or cigars but tea is also an option. Metal hinges and a lock, but unfortunately the key is missing. Sturdy and in great usable shape. Early/Mid 1800’s, Anglo- American.
