Rare Antique Russian Ptd COSSACKS Tobacco Humidor Box Vishnyakov Imperial Era. Offering a very handsome Antique Russian Painted Humidor/Tobacco Box. Signed inside by celebrated VISHNYAKOV– awarded numerous gold Imperial medals. Retains original interior tin foil paper. Well loved– inside retains the lingering aroma of tobacco. Lid– hand painted– portraying Russian woman peasant and two Cossacks. One playing the accordion and one dancing– kicking up his heels. Rare to see Cossack dancing on Russian boxes– usually painted are Troika sleds. Wear commensurate with age and use. Thumping, bumps and wear on corners– see images. Crazing on painted lid, but painting itself is in very good condition. Hinges are strong and stable. Approx– 5 3/8″ by 3 3/8″ by 3 1/4 h. Hard to find early signed Box. Wonderful scene of animated Russian country life. Rare to find Humidor/Tobacco box with original silver foil. We wrap all our items very carefully. A good looking master craftsman carved cigar box complete with the original key and very angry dog protecting the contents. The box comes complete with the original lock and key which work just fine. We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, there will be normal age related patina marks all over. Height:- 19.5cm. Depth:- 23.5cm. 1928 RARE Rockwell Kent Sally Art Deco Cigar Box. The outside of the box is brass and the inside is lined with wood. The image on the front is attributed ti Rockwell Kent, a famous artist, print maker and writer, 1882 1971. The image depicts Sally (Sally Kent Gorton) his wife and widow. The image was designed in 1928 for an A. Spalding & Brothers magazine advertisement. Epicts Sally (Sally Kent Gorton) his wife and widow. There are very few of this particular box available. Rockwell Kent had the image etched in the lids of some brass boxes and gave them out as gifts to friends and business associates. This particular box has been well cared for. The inside of the is clean and in very good condition. The brass on the outside has developed a nice patina and has other signs of normal age. The lid is also still very well attached with a good working hinge. It is about 2 5/8 inches by 5.5 inches by 7 1/8 inches. The box is marked A. Up for sale is a very rare antique signed Dunhill porcelain and wooden tobacco humidor/jar. It’s made in a square box style format with 4 hand painted inlaid panels. The porcelain panels are done with a realistic approach and rich color depicting intricate bird scenes. It has a carved wooden spring loaded lid that turns to lock tightly into place when not being opened. When the lid is removed it exposes the metal lining that has some slight paint loss. It’s signed on the bottom by Dunhill and measures 7 1/4 inches tall by 5 1/2 inches wide by 5 1/2 inches long. In very nice used condition. Which will be a charge of 7% due to New Jersey state law. Please make sure to look at all pictures very closely before purchasing, as most pieces in my shop are non refundable. Most items are antique or vintage and could have usual ware from age. A rare and spectacular find, the carved Black Forest dogs are about the rarest subject to find, and we all love them. This little guy sits atop a beautifully crafted and very well preserved cigar chest (not a humidor, no moisture apparatus, remember) or serving box. Each of the 4 slide-out trays remain in excellent and undamaged state, and it holds a total of 32 cigars, up to 4.5 in length. Old as it is, and size, it was likely a cheroot cabinet. The hinged top lifts up and folds back to reveal the serving trays. All measurements are noted on the photos, but it’s 9.5″ tallest, 9.5″ widest (at feet). No chips, no breaks, no hairlines or shrinkage or warping. It has a working lock, but at listing time I do not have a key to work it or attend it. We do have a stash of 19gh century keys for these old casket locks, but so far we haven’t got one fitted to this. We’ll continue to search one out, but as it stands now, it comes without key. If we find one, we’ll annotate the listing and price. Very good to excellent condition throughout. I find no chips or loss to the carvings, though it’s likely perhaps a tiny nip on end of leaf or a little rough spot is there somewhere. I do notice on our photos that the light seems to make it look like one eye is missing a little glass bead. In fact, neither has or had glass beads, and it’s just angle of light. The pupils are carved as recesses, so one could certainly set a small black glass bead in each should you wish to have him have glass eyes. It was not originally thus, and it is not a flaw you’re seeing on the photos – just a glare. Full measurements are noted on the photos. Not sure the breed of that darling dog, but he’s without damage. Again, dogs are rare! We’ve fully cleaned the box. There are no odors at all. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! A Rare And Very Unusual Combination – Top Level is a A. Abrahams Wood Cigar Storage & Vented Humidor – Bottom Level Is A Valley City, Smith & Shipman Wood Cigar Box. The top section, a vented humidor (6 7/8″ X 3 5/8″ X 3 1/8) has two applied wood stars and a paper label on top that reads Valley City. On the underside of the lid is a paper label that reads Manufactured from the best selected Havana Tobacco, A. 121 East Fayette Street, Syracuse. The lid has a cloth hinge that is loose & ripping. The bottom section (8 3/4″ x 5 5/8″ x 3 1/8) has a paper label under the lid that reads Manufactured expressly for Valley City, Smith & Shipman, 45 Pearl Street, Grand Rapids, Mich. The bottom lid has a cloth hinge that is in good condition. Both labels show some wear. On the bottom of the box is printed WN Trumble & Co. Both sections have the same thin wire hook and eye as closures. This unusual combination (never saw one before) is in very good condition for it’s age showing only minor wear and built up dust to the outside and some wear to the labels on the insides. Vintage / Antique – age unknown. Outside – 28 cm long, 8 cm wide, and 6 cm high. Inside – 25 cm long, 5 cm wide. Size infers it was made to fit premium quality Cuban-type cigars. Heavy 1110 grams in weight. I think it has a porcelain base – which makes sense as a material that would help maintain inside temperature (humidor) under the decoration. It is a really lovely box – looks and feels like a quality piece – especially so with the substantial weight of materials used. Unlike plain timber vintage/antique cigar boxes it looks good AND is made of materials that help maintain the inside temperature. I used the word’Rare’ because I was unable to find anything even remotely comparable through online searches. If you can find anything similar, please let me know.
