Gorgeous and unique, this box is oval, the lid lifts up and holds a round mirror (more likely held an ashtray previously). The bottom half has built in spots for perhaps tobacco, ashtray, cutter, matches and cigar. The lid has engraved garland and bow with the monogram “CMS”. The bottom has 4 ball feet. This box is so much lovelier in person than in pictures as it’s still very shiny. I’ This box is perfect for use on your desk, in office, bar top, etc. Measurements: approx 8 1/4″ long x 6 1/2″ wide x 3 1/2 tall. Marks: Colonial Silver Co Quadruple Plate Portland Me 1360. This inkwell is in good antique condition.
