Victorian Sterling Silver Arthur & Bond Yokohama Dragon Motif Cigar Humidor Box

Antique sterling silver believed to be Cigar Humidor Box or a Men’s Desk or Trinket Box, with Textured Raised Dragon Motif, signed Arthur & Bond Yokohama. Has a light hammered finish, detailed dragons on the cover and around the sides. Measures 6x4x1.75 in size, with hinged cover. In very good antique condition; the outside has very little surface wear, bottom has some dings and light scratches; inside top cover is warped and bent in spots, inside bottom is a tad bent, bottom rim is bent and there is dirt and discoloration; inside top cover rim has a scratched mark – see next to last photo, cover fits and closes evenly, and the hinge is fine and working. We’ve not cleaned nor polished the box and leave that to the new owner. It weighs 290 dwt, or 451 grams or 15.90 ounces. Antique Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver Wood Lined Humidor Box. This classic box is made of sterling silver & is lined in cedar wood. The style of the M mark is for John C. Moore II (directorship of Tiffany from 1907 – 1947). Approximate measurements 7 1/4″ long by 3 1/4″ deep x 2 high. Approximate weight 438 grams. There is a monogram that reads “G H C”. Antique Sterling Silver signed Tiffany & Co Etched Cigar, Humidor Document or Desk Trinket Box, marked Tiffany & Co 20041B Makers 13634 Sterling Silver 925-100 M on the bottom. 9.25 x 6.0 x app. 3.5 in size. Has initials engraved on the cover with a raised, etched design of bows and ribbons. We are not sure if this was a cigar box or a desk box but it has a slight odor of cigars inside. In very nice antique condition, No dents, but the bottom edge has a few nicks – see photos # 4 and 5 for an idea, inside has tarnish and dirt as well as tarnish on the outside which we did not clean or polish and leave that to the new owner, hinge is fine, inside of the cover has a gold hue to it, we are not sure this had gilt at one time, or is just tarnish and the side of the inside has discoloration and tarnish and bottom inside has rusty looking dirt or tarnish. You also see some camera reflections and shadows, bottom also has some scratches and we left the piece as found. Heavy and substantial, weighing 963.45 dwt or 48.17 ounces or 1498.33 grams. Antique English Sterling Silver Cigar Box / Humidor 1905

A fabulous chunky double cigar box / humidor. Standing on four original ball feet, the box has two lidded compartments, lined in Cedar wood to keep the contents fresh. These are often referred to as Humidors, this is a modern invention and so isn’t officially a humidor; it is the Cedar wood that did the job. Made from English sterling silver, there are numerous hallmarks to all the components, most rubbed due to the smooth finish of the box. The marks can be made out to be for Birmingham 1905, a true Edwardian example. An impressive piece in excellent condition, minor wear commensurate with age. 10″ x 6″ x 4 1/2 tall to top of handle. Incredible Antique Tiffany & Co. Etched Sterling Silver Wood Lined Humidor Box. This elegant box is made of highly detailed sterling silver & is lined in wood. Very Fine acid-etched scroll mesh lace pattern. Box and cover cedar lined and partitioned. The silver has been lightly polished to highlight the fine etching. There are minor dings and imperfections. The wood lining has a crack on the bottom, and just 2 of the original 3 removable dividers remain. The wood retains the luscious scent from Partagas gone by. Your local jeweler should be able to quickly remove the engraved initials from the lid. This is a thoroughly glamorous gift for a Man or Woman. We believe the box dates to 1931 or prior, under the directorship of Jo hn C. Moore II (1907 – 1947). Approximate measurements 9-1/4″ long by 5-3/4″ deep x 1-3/4 high.
