Swiss Black Forest Cigar Chest Animalier Fan Tail Pheasants up Top, 46 cigars. All items and photos are the express property of Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. Wonderful late 1800s hand carved Swiss Black Forest cigar chest with hinged lid and swing-away sides, holds 46 cigars. The bottom has a drawer, as well. The old original lock has its key and does work to lock away cigars. A bold big and really beautifully carved pair of fan tail pheasants up top, for a hunt and Animalier theme. The chest is nice-sized and surprisingly will hold a large number of cigars. Measurements noted on the photos. Cigar length for closed casket can be up to 4 1/2″ long, smallish and holes are 5/8″ in diameter or slightly less. Very good to excellent condition for age and type, late 1800s and likely a Grand Tour souvenir. Very nicely preserved carvings, no losses on the birds other than a narrow shaving-like chip to one wing. The box, itself, should have had, or once did have feet. You can see that looking at it from bottom. There is a slight rise to the very far right of the lid, when closed, but you really must be looking directly on to see it. There is a drawer at the base and it has an abbreviated nob, perhaps chipped from original but it is still there and it works. A little looseness at joints but solid and seems just a factor of age. Beautifully carved and a serpentine form carved in a nice way. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! Our fine inventory is very important. Beautifully carved and very well preserved late 1800s to as late as 1915 cigar chest with lift-out tray to hold up to 40 cigars. Floral bouquet carved up top, and all-over adornments details. The original key still works the old lock. We’ve put up lots of photos from all angles, and measurements are noted on the photos. Very good to excellent condition, with a nod to an old repaired crack along one of the lines of perforated top panel of the interior cigar tray. It is strong and barely visible, but we want you to know it is there. A tip of one leaf of the bouquet cartouche is gone, as well (see images). The florals are really beautifully carved in a full relief, life-like. Lock engages and original key still attends it. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! Antique Swiss Black Forest HC Cigar Cabinet, Chest, Box, 3 Trays for 30 Cigars. All items and photos are the express property of Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. A spectacular 1880s to earliest 1900s hand carved Swiss Black Forest lift-top cigar cabinet, 11.5 wide and with 3 trays, holds 30 large cigars for service. Beautifully carved on all sides, florals and forest look, a monogrammed shield cartouche up top. I know you’re going to ask me the initials. I’m guessing at it, as I can make it be TPC, or HB, either one. You’ll have to see what you make of it. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. The chest is raised on bun feet, and there really isn’t any warp, cracks, hairlines. It would have initially had 6 trays, but it looks balanced with the 3 excellent ones that remain with it. They’re all carved nicely, too. One thing to note is that the actual lock mechanism is missing. The pin half of the lock plate is there, and keyhole, but the lock has been removed. Doesn’t hurt the look any, as you have to go searching under the fold-back lid to see it’s missing. Photos show it from all sides, and it’s in very fine shape throughout. As you can see, it’s in a medium light wood, and it shows off its serpentine edging and bas relief carvings very nicely. All measurements noted on the photos. We’re easy to deal with. Vintage SWISS Black Forest Chalet CIGAR HUMIDOR Cottage House BOX Hand Carved. This piece is VERY COOL and truly “ONE OF A KIND”.. ! It has two compartments under the roof and a built in lighter inside the chimney. It resembles an old traditional Black Forest Chalet from Switzerland. Some of the key features to identify are the Swiss wooden clogs outside the front door and the large overhanging eaves on the roof, typically seen on cottages in the Black Forest mountain range of the Alps. This beautiful area is well renowned for its enchanting Spas and masterful wood work that led to the invention of the world famous German Cuckoo Clocks. N the inside lid, there is a small painting of the Jesuit Church in Lucerne, Switzerland. On top, the chimney flips open a built in lighter. You may look closely and notice all the tiny details that are quite fascinating and realistic. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident in this piece. 12″x 10″x 9. The red paint on the roof is slightly separating, giving it a “cracked” appearance (not significant)… This is most likely due to the paint containing strong solvents… One window shudder is missing on one side window…. One inside box rest has been repaired… Please see photos for a clear visual description.. PLEASE NOTE: Almost all the items we sell are vintage in nature. Antique Swiss Black Forest Wood Carving Humidor Music Box Bear Glass Eyes Brienz c1920s. The box drawer/tray opens by pressing down on the button at the front of the ashtray. We see a figural wood carved bear atop the box, with the match holder behind him. The bear has glass eyes. This piece is also a music box. It plays Balalaika and Mariandl. The underside shows a label with the song titles, and a label from E. BRIENZ, Stock #, Original cost. We also see 285, which looks to be a previous price. Above the winder and 285, on the edge, we see a stamped letter R or B. The piece measures 6 1/4″ tall, 4 1/4″ wide (with bear’s nose), and 4 7/8 deep. This piece is part of the unsold, uncirculated carving stock from the famous JOBIN carving emporium in Brienz, Switzerland. Jobin will be closing its doors soon, permanently, so collect these items while you can. Very good used/antique condition with great patina. Functional parts work properly.
