It measures 11 1/2″ long by 7 1/2″ deep by 4 1/4 tall. Weighs 4 lbs 9 oz. In excellent vintage condition. The upper wood exterior is nearly blemish-free. The bottom shows wear. Inside has a pleasant tobacco smell. The plastic bottom is intact. The metal lining on the top. Is stained and has light tarnish. Whatever came attached to the clip is gone. Is well modeled in deep relief with very good carving and detail. Depicts a seated bear carved in Black Forest style. Has a custom top, the head lifts open, and is fitted to the body; the base container, with a brass hinge, is the body of the bear with four outstretched paws; the base is hollowed out as a tobacco jar. Has a Thorens MUSIC BOX built into the base, which is activated by a string attached to the top; when the lid is opened the music box is activated- it plays There is No Place Like Home and Way Down Upon the Swanee River. The music box has been serviced, cleaned and oiled, and it works. Once the lid is closed the two songs stop after being played through.
