Absolutely gorgeous early 1900s solid wood smoke stand with copper lined cigar tobacco humidor chest cabinet end table. Im unsure of maker or year, but believe its from the early 1900s. All screws are flat head. Front door has a beautiful design with a simple round pull handle. Great condition & structurally solid. Door opens/closes as it should. Wood shows only light scratches/scuffs. Couple finish wear spots to top (last photo) but hardly notable. I like to point out any & all flaws I find if possible. Copper lining is intact. Im unsure of type of wood. Measures 12 wide by 10 deep & 261/2 tall to top of handle or 22 tall to top of table top. There is a good chance we can settle any issues you may have. ANTIQUE FRENCH FROM SARREGUEMINES FIGURAL DUENDE GNOME ELF DWARF PIPE EN BOIS. TOBACCO, JAR, POT, BOX, CASE, HUMIDOR, PIPE HOLDER. THE HAT SEEMS TO BE BROKEN, BUT IS LIKE THAT. IS IN PERFECT CONDITIONS. BUYERS CAN CHECK IN THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS FIGURE WITH THIS WORDS: (PIPE EN BOIS CASTIGATE SIFFLENDO). I SHOW HERE PART OF THE TEXT. Voici, ce qui m’a été présenté comme un pot à tabac, en grès, qui m’a tout d’abord intrigué par la présence de ce gros sifflet dans la bouche du personnage. Il s’agit bien d’un simple sifflet de grosse taille et non d’une flûte ou d’un ocarina. En premier lieu, le pot porte à sa base un gros cartouche ” Pipe en bois ” qui identifie le personnage : il s’agit de Georges Cavalier (Tours 1842 – 1878) dit ” Pipe en bois “, étudiant et cabaliste parisien au milieu du XIXème siècle, dont Les mémoires ont été rééditées par les éditions Champ Vallon, précédés d’une biographie par Jean-Jacques Lefrère. Georges Cavalier devait ce surnom de pipe en bois aux traits de son visage, secs et asymétriques, tels ceux représentés sur certaines pipes en bois sculptées. Voilà qui explique la présence du sifflet comme attribut du personnage, ainsi que la citation latine figurant sur le pot proprement dit : ” Castigat sifflendo cocodès “, citation inconnue sur internet à ce jour mais qui n’est autre qu’un pastiche de la devise de la comédie, souvent attribuée à Molière, Castigat Ridendo Mores. “Les mentions ” Pièces de théâtre ” et ” Drames sur les livres posés à terre (et que le personnage n’hésite pas à piétinner) viennent compléter l’explication de manière évidente, mais sans s’appuyer plus précisément sur l’une ou l’autre des uvres malmenées par les étudiants en cabale. Le chiffre 343 est le numéro de forme de la pièce, qui permet de dater lobjet et de lattribuer à la manufacture de Sarreguemines de façon certaine, puisque les catalogues ou tarifs des objets de fantaisies de la manufacture (conservés au musée) stipulent pour ce numéro : 343 Pot à tabac pipe en bois, grès et permettent de dater celui-ci vers 1870. CARVED WOODEN TOBACCO BOX / HUMIDOR. About 9 3/4″ x 6″ x 5 1/2. Mahogany wooden humidor, carved on all four sides and the top. Oval cameo of tobacco smoking pipes on the lid. Carved in the form of an iron-bound chest, with intricately textured sides, and iron bands, complete with attaching wooden screws. Inside lined with silvery gray paper. Still retains the old tobacco odor. Best guess for age is last quarter 19th century. Some surface wear, especially around the corners and edges (all visible in the images). Rich, dark age patina. This is a nice antique Cigar Humidor box (see photos). The item looks to be make of Mahogany wood and it has nice mounts that look to be silver plated to me (see photos). The item is antique (see photos). The item has a lock on it and it is open, but I do not have a key (see photos). The item has a mount on each upper and lower corner with the word Cigars written in metal cursive script on the top of the box (see photos). The item would make a welcome addition to your collection (see photos). The item is in as found condition. The item in total measures about 5 inches high, about 7 inches from the front edge to the back side at the top and 10 and 3/4ths inches wide from side to side. The metal word cigars has a break in the lettering and it looks as if there should be more metal around the top of the key ole etscheon that is missing? High quality antique handmade wood brass cigar tobacco humidor holder box case

Up for sale is a high quality antique 19th century wooden cigar box. It’s made by hand out of a varnished oak wood and has thick brass appliqués on each corner and edge. The lid opens on hinges exposing the lovely reticulated metal interior and has a mechanism on the side that stops the lid from opening over 90 degrees. It also has a very detailed solid brass pivoting carry handle mounted to the top of the lid. It’s in very nice condition, has acquired a great patina from age and measures 12 inches long by 7 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches tall. It is missing the key for the locking.
