Antique 19th Century Victorian Period. Tiger Oak & Brass Mount. A wonderful desk top cigar smokers cabinet constructed in the manner of a safe in beautifully grained Tiger Oak with ebony string highlights and English Royal crests to doors. Brass mounts and handles, the brass lock cover slides open to reveal a fully operational lock with key. The twin doors open to reveal a fully fitted interior again with brass mount handles consisting of three draws one large below two small cigar storage, additional jar compartment to right. The right inner door with vesta compartment. The cabinet is in beautiful condition. Tiger oak is more expensive than normal oak as it is taken from better wood and cut at such an angle to produce the tiger stripe effect therefor being used on the finest quality furniture. Dimensions: 9 3/4″(24.8cm) wide by 9 1/4″ (23.5cm) high by 7 1/16(18cm) deep. Dont miss out on this superb piece of history to use or as a wonderful collectors item. Up for sale is a high quality antique 19th century handmade wooden cigar humidor box. It’s made out of a rich colored mahogany with ornate open worked plated metal corners and has acquired a lovely sheen patina from age. The lid opens on dual hinges and is lined with an early traditional tin humidor lining that has wings in the back for a humidor stone. It’s in nice antique condition and measures 10 inches long by 6 3/4 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches tall. The box has a square key entry but is missing the original key. SUPERB and RARE large antique Victorian Edwardian Mahogany Humidor / Cigar Box

SUPERB large ANTIQUE Mahogany CIGAR humidor/box. Hi and welcome to my listing for this wonderful antique Edwardian cigar box. Pieces like this’ in this condition are becoming increasingly hard to find and it is a lovely example. The box is made from Mahogany. It has the word Cigar in white metal attached to the top of the lid and four plaques around the edge of the lid (note – the plaques have no inscriptions so the new owner could get these engraved if they so wished). There is also a lock (sadly no key). The box measures (externally) 11 inches (280 mm) long X 7 inches (180 mm) wide and stands 4.25 inches (110 mm) high. Internally the box has a sectional, non-removable lining with three possible positions for the dividing piece. The total internal length is 9 inches (228 mm), width 5 inches (125 mm) with the depth being about 2.5 inches (60 mm). The dividing strip may be placed in the middle or 3.25 inches (80 mm) in from either end which would give just over 5.5 inches (142 mm) for the larger section. I’d say the box is in very good/excellent condition for it’s age – the bottom of the box is not finished off as well as the main body or internal section so perhaps there was a felt base on the piece originally (there is a small remnant of some covering). Overall a superb original example would look great on a desk or study. Very stylish and usable and could even be used as a presentation piece with the plaques around the lid. Antique Victorian Oak & Brass Cigarette & Cigar box or humidor, complete with working lock and key. Please note to operate, the lock needs to be held open using the key (unlocked) before the lids are replaced (pushed down against the spring loaded mechanism) before releasing the key to lock the lids in place. They cannot be pushed shut without doing this. To unlock simply turn the key and both lids will pop up by a small amount. This is a very old and much loved piece, there have been repairs and modifications over it’s long life which include a repair/replacement to one lids latch (right hand side) and a piece of wood cut in under the left hand side of the lock body as well as some small patches of wood stain or paint. These are all done with charm and add to the story of this functional but beautiful addition to anyones collection. A small drawer with a brass handle has also been added at some point to the front, to store matches perhaps? Making this a unique item. There are two wooden cedar? Lined compartments and it has a brass carry handle, two engraved brass plaques on the lids read cigarettes and cigars. The corner decorations are plated brass, as are the hinges, and there is a brass escutcheon to the lock. Size is 9 and 1/2 inches wide x 6 and 3/16 inches deep x 4 inches in height.
