Rare small Coltrock Jarette Humidor c. From the Colt Firearms company. Colt rock was Colt Bakelite, or Colt Plastic, anearly plastic made by Colt for gun grips originally, then used for tobacco, cosmetic, and clothing items as well. This coltrock case makes an excellent humidor, canna stash case for pre-rolls, pipes, gummies, papers, a sewing box, or what have you. Classic, and scarce, Americana. Measures about 5 inches in diameter and about the same in height. Minor wear as befits an item of its age. This is a beautiful Cherry Wood humidor with a matt finish. It is fully lined and will really make a great addition to any home. When you open the box there is a wooden cover with “ZENITH” thereon, and a finger hole to lift this up to reveal a removable box and 2 moveable sections. This box has been in storage and has never been used. There are slight marks to one end (see pics) but othewise in immaculate condition. All hinges, felt bottom in excellent condition. Lid closes perfectly smoothly. Humistat fitted in lid. Scratch Resistant Felt Bottom. Size approx :38.5cm x 21.5cm x 10cm. Once upon a time, Colt Firearms made their own version of bakelite, a heat resistant early plastic for gun handles called Coltrock, aka Colt Rock, Colt Bakelite, Colt Plastic. Specialty items Colt made of this bakelite included buttons, cosmetic cases, and humidors/cigarette boxes, like this one, styled to look like a book, called, The Courtship of Lady Nicotine. Does it get more noir than this? These boxes are extremely scarce. Can be used as originally meant, or as a stash box for other smokables and edibles, a writer’s or artist’s box for pens, brushes, ink, paper, etc. A sewing case, a book safe. 1928 RARE Rockwell Kent Sally Art Deco Cigar Box. The outside of the box is brass and the inside is lined with wood. The image on the front is attributed ti Rockwell Kent, a famous artist, print maker and writer, 1882 1971. The image depicts Sally (Sally Kent Gorton) his wife and widow. The image was designed in 1928 for an A. Spalding & Brothers magazine advertisement. Epicts Sally (Sally Kent Gorton) his wife and widow. There are very few of this particular box available. Rockwell Kent had the image etched in the lids of some brass boxes and gave them out as gifts to friends and business associates. This particular box has been well cared for. The inside of the is clean and in very good condition. The brass on the outside has developed a nice patina and has other signs of normal age. The lid is also still very well attached with a good working hinge. It is about 2 5/8 inches by 5.5 inches by 7 1/8 inches. The box is marked A.
