Vintage H. W. Longfellow Humidor Cigar Box Copper Dog Plaque 1930s Walnut

This is a Humidor or cigar box with the copper plaque of a dog “Sam” made by Henry W. Longfellow, a distant relative of the poet. It has a sticker that identifies it as’made by H. I’ve found these dated to the 1930s. It features a nice warm finish that is achieved over time. Made of walnut by Decatur Industries. Measures 8 by 11 inches, 3 inches deep. Weighs just under 3 pounds. In very good condition, with some light scratches and some stains, from cigars, on the inside. The item “Vintage H. W. Vintage Birdseye Maple Wood Cigar Box Humidor. Box is made of a light toned Birdseye Maple wood on the outside. Bos is also lined on wood. It has brass hinges with a lid stay and a velvet bottom. Top of box has a beveled edge. Perfect as a cigar box, humidor, jewelry or keepsake box. It measures 10 1/4″ long x 8 3/4″ wide x 2 3/4 tall. The inside is 9 1/8″ x 7 1/2″ x 1 5/8 deep. Vintage SWISS Black Forest Chalet CIGAR HUMIDOR Cottage House BOX Hand Carved. This piece is VERY COOL and truly “ONE OF A KIND”.. ! It has two compartments under the roof and a built in lighter inside the chimney. It resembles an old traditional Black Forest Chalet from Switzerland. Some of the key features to identify are the Swiss wooden clogs outside the front door and the large overhanging eaves on the roof, typically seen on cottages in the Black Forest mountain range of the Alps. This beautiful area is well renowned for its enchanting Spas and masterful wood work that led to the invention of the world famous German Cuckoo Clocks. N the inside lid, there is a small painting of the Jesuit Church in Lucerne, Switzerland. On top, the chimney flips open a built in lighter. You may look closely and notice all the tiny details that are quite fascinating and realistic. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident in this piece. 12″x 10″x 9. The red paint on the roof is slightly separating, giving it a “cracked” appearance (not significant)… This is most likely due to the paint containing strong solvents… One window shudder is missing on one side window…. Beautiful vintage circular or round and scalloped paneled Pipe Tobacco or Cigar Humidor/Holder. It is made of a hardwood and has a brass finial on the circus tent top. Measures 10″ tall x 6″ dia. Inside opening 3 3/4″ opening, x 5 1/4″ deep, 3/4 thick. It is very well made and very clean with no odor. This item was found at a world traveler’s estate sale so not sure where he would of picked it up at. The wood has a lot of wood grain and dark/light areas. Not sure what type of wood but feel it is a hardwood of some sort. Very nice warm, rich, patina’d color. The bottom of the base that is not seen looks to be a particle board and there is an indented hole that does not go through. 4 felt pads for furniture protection.
