Up for sale is a very high quality antique 19th century J Bramah, London lacquered wooden humidor box. This rare example features a hand lacquered and painted deep brown finish over wood with hand applied decorative accents on the lid. Inside is a stunning removable pewter box with very elaborate hand tooled detailing on the lid. The box is marked on the locking mechanism and measures 14 1/2 inches long by 10 1/2 inches wide by 11 inches back to front. There is chips to the lacquer throughout as shown, some scuffs, and ware. Continental antique mechanical box. Birds-eye maple veneer with brass hardware. The inside fittings are leaves and vines of gold tone and black metal. The platform raises as you open the lid. We think this may be a humidor, cigarette holders on the sides with cigars in the middle, as the lining is metallic cloth. Brevete made all kinds of fitted boxes for everything you could think of so we are not sure. The brass tag says Brevete S. Measures 9 inches wide, 5 1/2 deep, and 3 3/4 inches high. Rare, antique, silverplate/ quadruple plate, cigar/ cigarette/ tobacco/ smoking box. Gorgeous and unique, this box is oval, the lid lifts up and holds a round mirror (more likely held an ashtray previously). The bottom half has built in spots for perhaps tobacco, ashtray, cutter, matches and cigar. The lid has engraved garland and bow with the monogram “CMS”. The bottom has 4 ball feet. This box is so much lovelier in person than in pictures as it’s still very shiny. I’ This box is perfect for use on your desk, in office, bar top, etc. Measurements: approx 8 1/4″ long x 6 1/2″ wide x 3 1/2 tall. Marks: Colonial Silver Co Quadruple Plate Portland Me 1360. This inkwell is in good antique condition. May have typical signs of vintage use such as slight surface scratches, plating wear, more near the etchings (not obvious at all, looks way better in person than in pictures). My pictures aren’t doctored to hide flaws so please use photos as part of the description. My items are antique and vintage. They have been loved through the years and most likely will show such. I do my very best to list the condition of my items as well as show pictures. Please ask questions before purchasing. If in the rare event your item arrives damaged.
