Beautifully carved and very well preserved late 1800s to as late as 1915 cigar chest with lift-out tray to hold up to 40 cigars. Floral bouquet carved up top, and all-over adornments details. The original key still works the old lock. We’ve put up lots of photos from all angles, and measurements are noted on the photos. Very good to excellent condition, with a nod to an old repaired crack along one of the lines of perforated top panel of the interior cigar tray. It is strong and barely visible, but we want you to know it is there. A tip of one leaf of the bouquet cartouche is gone, as well (see images). The florals are really beautifully carved in a full relief, life-like. Lock engages and original key still attends it. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! ANTIQUE BRASS & CEDAR CIGAR BOX/HUMODOR LOS ANGELES BY GRAMMES ALLENTOWN. THE BOX IS 26.5 cm x 8.5 cm x 19 cm. THE CEDAR LID INSIDE IS STAMPED’CALIFORNIA CLUB LOS ANGELES’. THE ENGRAVINGS AT THE SIDE ARE SIGNED’GRAMMES ALLENTOWN’. BRASS HUMIDOR / CIGAR BOXBY L. GRAMMES & SONS ALLENTOWN, PA. Vintage brass & wood tobacco humidor. The Cedar lined with Brass box has etched designs on the top & on three of the 4 sides (front, left & right sides). The interior and bottom is made of wood. The top etching depicts a Sir Walter Raleigh type fellow with a 17th century-style pipe. On either side of him, is a chair & hearth. The front etching shows a fireplace mantle decorated with a lock box, ale tankard, plate & 4 different types of pipes. The left and right sides are books & a smoking pipe. Grammes & Sons out of Allentown, PA began in 1875 and is known to have lasted almost a century. They made a wide variety of metal products as well as box-making saws & tools. Occasionally their boxes show up on the market. Grammes was born January 30, 1845 in Heidelberg Twp, Lehigh County, PA. Lewis established the company of L. Grammes & Sons in Allentown which employed many of the Allentown area residents until the late 1960’s. The company’s roots. Go back to 1875, when founder Lewis F. Grammes opened a machine shop in Allentown. The company manufactured a wide range of metal products over the years, from practical products, like hinges and drawer pulls, to artistic pieces, like cigarette boxes and bookends. Up for sale is a wonderful handmade antique English lidded tobacco jar. It’s made by hand out of thick carved wooden walls and has a sheen finish. It is mounted with a nickel-plated pivoting handle, a badge on the face, and a removable lid. The inside is lined with thick white porcelain bucket and also has a high gloss finish. TOP QUALITY ANTIQUE COROMANDEL WOOD DRESSING CASE VANITY CASE & JEWELLERY BOX by PARKINS & GOTTO of LONDON 11 3/4 inches (300mm) wide, by 8 1/2 inches (220mm) deep, by 5 inches (130mm) tall Coromandel wood throughout. Lid has “stand up” hinges (see photos), & mirror inside. Mirror has storage behind. Velvet lined, lift out tray, fitted with lidded compartments, (see photos). Good, antique condition with very light wear in keeping with its great age, but no damage. The hinges work as they should, and the lid opens and closes without issue. This is a Good Quality piece, and it would make a lovely display item and be a great addition to any collection. FINE ANTIQUE BRASS INLAID COROMANDEL WOOD CIGAR BOX HUMIDOR 1880 Cabinet Case. The box measures approx 6 3/4 inches (175mm) wide, by 7 inches (180mm) deep, by 4 1/2 inches (115mm) tall, and is made from Coromandel wood with delicate brass inlay, and inset brass handles at either side. The hinged lid has “stand up” hinges (see photos), and the interior is lined with mahogany. This beautiful antique cigar box. Is in good, antique condition with light wear and small restorations in keeping with its great age, but no damage. The hinges work as they should, and the lid is a good fit, and opens and closes without issue.
