Continental antique mechanical box. Birds-eye maple veneer with brass hardware. The inside fittings are leaves and vines of gold tone and black metal. The platform raises as you open the lid. We think this may be a humidor, cigarette holders on the sides with cigars in the middle, as the lining is metallic cloth. Brevete made all kinds of fitted boxes for everything you could think of so we are not sure. The brass tag says Brevete S. Measures 9 inches wide, 5 1/2 deep, and 3 3/4 inches high. A Vintage Solid Wood partners table cigar box, having a large plain rectangular body, with double hinged compartments opened by a mechanical carrying handle, and cedar wood-lined interiors. Constructed from Solid Mahogany with Cedar Wood lined interiors. A Silver plated, solid brass Mechanical handle raises both lids when lifted. The handle, curved hinge riders & feet covers are all Silver Plated. The dimensions of this fine hand-made table cigar box are. Length 28 cms (11 inches), width 18.5 cms (7.25inches), height inc. Handle 15 cms (6 inches). Weight approx: 1.7 Kg (3.12 lb). The feet and underside are covered in a felt material to prevent scratching surfaces. In Very Good Condition Throughout. A wonderful find antique french ebonised wood with bur wall nut 6 mechanical opening doors with guilt metal outer decoration and inner triple cigar holder behind each door a great collectors item great gift and would be a pleasure to use too. It does need work i like it as it is as a decorators item but restored would be amazing 1 of the pouter door decorations is missing there are 3 missing / damaged internal fittings (moved around would leave 1 door with no fittings and 1 with just the base cup). The ebonised wood base has had a repair which cleaning away the glue and polishing would make a huge difference. I hope all this information helps. And would love if some one was to restore this.
