RARE, one of a kind, EXTRA LARGE. Wave Crest Opal Ware Hand Painted Enameled Hinged and footed Cigar Tobacco Humidor Box Antique. This is so beautiful the pictures just don’t do it justice. 6.75 inches tall x 6.5 inches wide. The opening is 5.5 inches wide. Making it easy to store your tobacco products. This is one of the largest of Monroe’s Opal Glass boxes. This is a the puffy egg crate style design. Over 100 years old this beautiful Box is in excellent condition. No chips, no cracks, no repairs, no scratches. There is some age tarnishing on the brass collar as shown in the pictures. A bit of history, the CF Monroe Co. Was founded in 1880 in Meriden Connecticut. Hand-Painted enameled in pastel colored floral designs. This beautiful Opal covered cigar box has a ribbed brass collar and clasp, each corner has an ornate ormolu. The brass hinge on the back works smoothly. The front clasp and cover fit evenly and snug. The beautiful footed legs each have a Cherub type figurine adding to its beauty and detail. The inside of the top has a sponge compartment. Grasp the little knob and turn gently to remove it and place a sponge inside and return the lid. Keeping your cigars or tobacco products fresh. Offered here LG Antique (I believe English) Hand painted. Decorated with a bird a flowers and scenic painting on the lid Tole. And probably was lined with tin? .. Not sure about it. Co and patent on the bronze lock (no key). This is Extremely RARE to see and incredible craftsmanship item! Has two compartments inserted into lid, /. Then it has removable with Bronze handle and two compartments part. The box has very serious lock installed, and with the right key (ask Locksmith co) will make a very safe documents box… Or if tin removed and interior lined with velour could be jewelry box. This cabinet 19x14x23 can be used as an end table and book rack. It is in very nice cosmetic condition with minor wood poor finish on one side. The wood exterior has a nice highly grained walnut finish and has a lot of carvings and decorated areas. The humidor larger box (10x11x9) is made of steel not copper painted off white and seals very tight. This box is easier to maintain and keep clean than copper. The humidor pull knob is not original. There is some letters HILT and numbers printed on the bottom. I don’t smoke so the cabinet does not smell of smoke. I will provide more photos. It is made of solid Spanish Cedar wood. Machine painted art with 3 coats of ultra-clear top grade lacquer and our. Fusion baked finish is applied to protect this very nice cigar box. It has brass hinges and magnetic clasps and the Lid Seats Perfectly on Box it also has a removable tray. The tray was left unfinished so the aroma of the Cedar is prominent. This is a Spanish cedar box and the box is in new Condition. Felt pads have been applied to prevent table scratching. This box will hold 150 to about 300 cigars depending on the size of the cigars. Approximately 50 in the removable tray. Measures approximately 12 in length by 10 wide by 5 high and weighs 2.36 lb. Spanish Cedar is widely used as a construction timber in South America, as well as for furniture and paneling. But in North America, Spanish cedar is really known for its very distinctive fragrance, and thus as the wood of choice for lining humidors, cigar boxes and cigar wrappers.
