Presenting an exquisite antique smoker’s box from the early 20th century, crafted with sought-after coromandel wood, native to India and Sri Lanka. This wood is celebrated for its distinct tiger-like stripes and rich hues. Unfortunately Coromandel was logged into extinction in the 20th C, making this piece that much more rare. The cigar box and humidor features solid sterling silver mounts, including the handle, individually hallmarked for London in 1918 by esteemed silversmith William Amaziah Ellwick. Open the hinged lids to unveil a cedar-lined interior, the traditional method for preserving tobacco and related items. This box has gracefully stood the test of time and is in excellent antique condition, displaying minor wear consistent with its age and historical use. Size 32cm wide x 24cm deep x 9cm high excl handle.
