Antique Victorian Smoker’s Box. Cigar Tobacco box humidor. Solid Oak box with Ornate Brass filigree “Cigar” and corner embellishments. Ornate tin metal lined interior. The hinges are both marked with. Pat’D July 1st, 1890. (does not mean that was date made, just patent approved). Believe it to be late 1800s/ early 1900s. Working lock, no key. Box measures 10 x 6.5 wide x 4-1/2 tall. Inside width: 9 x 5-1/2. Breakables are ALWAYS INSURED. I have given due diligence to the research. Antique Victorian Oak & Brass Cigarette & Cigar box, Humidor, Lockable with key

Antique Victorian Oak & Brass Cigarette & Cigar box or humidor, complete with working lock and key. Please note to operate, the lock needs to be held open using the key (unlocked) before the lids are replaced (pushed down against the spring loaded mechanism) before releasing the key to lock the lids in place. They cannot be pushed shut without doing this. To unlock simply turn the key and both lids will pop up by a small amount. This is a very old and much loved piece, there have been repairs and modifications over it’s long life which include a repair/replacement to one lids latch (right hand side) and a piece of wood cut in under the left hand side of the lock body as well as some small patches of wood stain or paint. These are all done with charm and add to the story of this functional but beautiful addition to anyones collection. A small drawer with a brass handle has also been added at some point to the front, to store matches perhaps? Making this a unique item. There are two wooden cedar? Lined compartments and it has a brass carry handle, two engraved brass plaques on the lids read cigarettes and cigars. The corner decorations are plated brass, as are the hinges, and there is a brass escutcheon to the lock. Size is 9 and 1/2 inches wide x 6 and 3/16 inches deep x 4 inches in height. Originally a writing slope, it has been re-purposed as cigar humidor and ceder wood lining has been added later to the interior. Original lock and key. There are two filters in the lid to regulate humidity, these will likely need new filters to function. Good large size and a good conversion. Monogram to the inlaid mother of pearl. Antique French Cigar Chest, Presentation Box, Fitted Shelves, Napoleon III, Victorian. All items and photos are the express property of Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. Gorgeous cigar tantalus from Napoleon III era c. 1850-70 or mid-Victorian era. This French made chest is fitted with cigar-mount pull-out shelves enough to hold 36 full-sized cigars. Beautifully crafted, but not in pristine condition at this time, it’s a bargain and really does present nicely in spite of a few flaws. I’ve marked those with “x” on our photos for your review. The photographer shows it with 2 keys inside, but just one will fit and only one key will be sent out with the box. The top and front both hinge up and down to open for use. Measurements noted on the photos. Good condition for age and type. The box has a beautiful boulle worked brass and mother of pearl cartouche, set in accents of black and brown woods. An engraved monogram that looks to me to be “T S” in set therein. The burl walnut veneer is accented by 2 other wood grain veneers on the top of the box, and accented by contrasting stringing. A pencil-edging in wood finished the edging beautifully to that slightly convex lid. There is a little disruption around the escutcheon (key hole) as visible in our images, and there is a section of missing veneer on bottom of one side – marked for your review. Slight imperfections otherwise, signs of age, noted in the photos. There are 3 shelves that have a hairline, or break. All function fine as you see them. This is not a pristine example, but priced accordingly. There is an engraved signature on the lockplate, but I can’t read it. Overall, even with a few flaws, a really beautiful old treasure! Handsome Antique Humidor in need of minor restoration. Veneered in Walnut with cross banding and stringing. Fitted with three drawers with brass Campaign type handle fittings. It needs a new lock or the existing one mending, there is a key with it which currently doesn’t work, however once a steel pin is replaced in the key hole I suspect it might. The drawers work however the linings have been replaced. There is a bit of Satin wood stringing missing from the top. See photos for detail. HUMIDOR CIGAR BOX SILVER PLATE MERIDEN VICTORIAN 1886. Dimensions 6 inches wide, 3-1/2in. A silver plated humidor box mounted with a dancing couple in 18th C. By Meriden Britannia Co. The sides of box are decorated with flowers and leaves in the Aesthetic Movement style. The box is raised on 4 bun feet. The pair of gracefully posed dancers are modeled with intricate detail. The partition separating the compartment for a sponge is perforated for circulation of moisture. Partition is slightly bent. Overall condition very good. This box could also be used for jewelry as the dancing figures would look at home on a dressing table.
