Antique Wind Up Music Box 2 Airs 1882 Cigar Humidor Hinged Box Silver Decoration. Measures 6 1/2″ x 9 7/8″ and 5 1/2 high closed. It is a footed box which is rather unique – 2 ball feet in the front and 2 peg feet in the back, it sits nicely level. The top silver decoration Art Nouveau cigar leaf with word cigars looks like it might be sterling but I could not find a silver mark. The bottom base wood panel has a crack. The box is complete other than the key for the lock which we do not have. There is an old paper label on the bottom that I can read “2 airs” but not much else can be seen clearly. The wood finish and the magnificent silver top Cigars decoration have a nice aged patina. Please see my 12 photos. Guaranteed a genuine antique late 19th century musical humidor box. Antique English Brass Mounted Oak Automated Cigar Box / Humidor – 1890. A wonderful Victorian cigar box or cabinet made from solid English Oak decorated with brass mounts, a winning combination to create a very handsome piece indeed. The top has a central shield handle shaped cartouche with one to the front drawer. These are always highly sought-after with their automated action; once the box is unlocked (complete with working key) the drawer is opened which automatically slides opens the lid, when the drawer is shut, the lid closes. The interior is fully fitted, lined in Cedar wood which is what kept cigars fresh; this is not officially a Humidor as these are modern inventions to regulate the humidity within; it is the Cedar lining that did this job well over 100 years ago. The bottom drawer is fitted with nickel tray for cigar trimmings and beyond is a trough for matches and a strike. Superb condition, measuring 12.5 inches wide, 7.5 inches deep and x 6.25 inches tall. Early C20th mahogany Dunhill “Airtight” cigar humidor, cylindrical on shape with twelve (dodecagon) cut sides above three bun shaped wooded feet. The one piece turned bevelled edged mahogany lid lifts off to reveal the lead weight airtight seal with Dunhills PATENT number 11832/13 together with the London address and the silver foil lined interior of the case. The lid has been turned out of one piece of wood. Dia 15.8cm widest point. Light wear overall, the lid showing a more visible tiny scuff. The cigar box which has a lovely polished patina to the mahogany is excellent. Impressive authentic hinged humidor box made by HEINTZ for R H Macy, heavy bronze with sterling silver overlay design on lid, in the mission / arts & crafts style of the period c. This handsome box originally housed a cedar wood removable lining and a perforated metal plate that slides in the underside of the lid. In more recent times, a blue felt lining has been placed inside which is easily removed to reveal the original interior bronze metal surface. Appropriate patina and light general wear (some scratching on front side): no attempt has been made to polish any surface. The bottom of the box shows the Heintz logo, 4078-B, Sterling on Bronze, Pat. 10″ x 6″ x 3.
