Make a good offer and own this today! Growing up in the early 70’s, my friends would have called this a “stash box” and they wouldn’t have kept tobacco in it. But in 1910 it was undoubtedly used for tobacco. Created by the E F Caldwell Co of New York, this silver on bronze box is very heavy and we’ll constructed. Measures 4″ x 7″ x 2 tall. Lid holds a screened piece that contains a sponge to keep your stash from drying out! Fantastic old piece from one of the greatest bronze works in New York City. Fretted detailing and lovely shaped and decorative escutcheons. The doors are complete with a working lock and key. Y pretty turned columns. The doors open to reveal seven shelf which can be. Out and are section up. The base has a lovely carved edge to the front and sides and is raised on a bun feet. This would make a beautiful gift to any connoisseur of fine cigars or equally. It has a wealth of other storage uses. The approximate dimensions are: – 10 1/4 inches (26 cm) wide. 7 1/4 inches (18.5 cm) deep. 10 inches (25.5 cm) high. ANTIQUE BRASS & CEDAR CIGAR BOX/HUMODOR LOS ANGELES BY GRAMMES ALLENTOWN. THE BOX IS 26.5 cm x 8.5 cm x 19 cm. THE CEDAR LID INSIDE IS STAMPED’CALIFORNIA CLUB LOS ANGELES’. THE ENGRAVINGS AT THE SIDE ARE SIGNED’GRAMMES ALLENTOWN’. BRASS HUMIDOR / CIGAR BOXBY L. GRAMMES & SONS ALLENTOWN, PA. Vintage brass & wood tobacco humidor. The Cedar lined with Brass box has etched designs on the top & on three of the 4 sides (front, left & right sides). The interior and bottom is made of wood. The top etching depicts a Sir Walter Raleigh type fellow with a 17th century-style pipe. On either side of him, is a chair & hearth. The front etching shows a fireplace mantle decorated with a lock box, ale tankard, plate & 4 different types of pipes. The left and right sides are books & a smoking pipe. Grammes & Sons out of Allentown, PA began in 1875 and is known to have lasted almost a century. They made a wide variety of metal products as well as box-making saws & tools. Occasionally their boxes show up on the market. Grammes was born January 30, 1845 in Heidelberg Twp, Lehigh County, PA. Lewis established the company of L. Grammes & Sons in Allentown which employed many of the Allentown area residents until the late 1960’s. The company’s roots. Go back to 1875, when founder Lewis F. Grammes opened a machine shop in Allentown. The company manufactured a wide range of metal products over the years, from practical products, like hinges and drawer pulls, to artistic pieces, like cigarette boxes and bookends.
