19th century gilt bronze jewelry box or casket with sculpted relief scenes depicting working man and industry. Made 19th century, in Germany by Erhard & Sohnne, established in 1844. 5 3/8inches long; 3inches wide; 2 5/8inches high. Stands on 4 legs. Exceptional relief sculpture on all sides and top of the casket. Each scene depicts heroic figures pursueing an act of industry. Some work machinery, some plant, water, graft, carry baskets, work in fields, ride carts. Unusually rich background detail of trees, fruit, baskets. The top depicts a youth riding one horse, another reigned with it. The horses rear through a landscape of trees and bushes, houses and high walls in the background. The figures are almost 3-dimentional and the moulding is highly detailed and naturalistic. Inside is lined in it’s original green velvet. Original KEY with openwork lion. The very best quality workmanship. Both box and key are marked for the makers, Erhard & Sohnne: an ES on the key and the lion symbol on both key and box. Good condition: no damage of any sort. Antique English Sterling Silver Cigar Box / Humidor 1905

A fabulous chunky double cigar box / humidor. Standing on four original ball feet, the box has two lidded compartments, lined in Cedar wood to keep the contents fresh. These are often referred to as Humidors, this is a modern invention and so isn’t officially a humidor; it is the Cedar wood that did the job. Made from English sterling silver, there are numerous hallmarks to all the components, most rubbed due to the smooth finish of the box. The marks can be made out to be for Birmingham 1905, a true Edwardian example. An impressive piece in excellent condition, minor wear commensurate with age. 10″ x 6″ x 4 1/2 tall to top of handle. Welcome to Antiques & Moore! THIS LISTING IS FOR A NICE ANTIQUE ENGLISH WALNUT CASE FULLY LINED HUMIDOR WITH KEY. BOX MEASURES 11″ LONG, 8 1/4″ WIDE AND 6 1/2 DEEP. WEIGHS 9.6 POUNDS. THIS NICE HUMIDOR HAS A BEAUTIFULLY GRAINED WALNUT CASE AND ORIGINAL KEY. THE BOX HAS A LONG BRASS “PIANO” HINGE THAT OPENS AND CLOSES CORRECTLY. THERE IS A CHAIN THAT CONNECTS THE TOP TO THE BOTTOM TO HOLD THE BOX IN AN OPEN POSITION. THE INTERIOR OF THE LID IS LINED WITH A SLIGHTLY DISCOLORED CHALKY TYPE SURFACE THAT KEEPS MOISTURE FROM THE CIGARS AND HAS PROBABLY DISCOLORED FROM THE FUMES OF THE TOBACCO OF THE CIGARS. THE BASE IS LINED WITH A WHITE GLASS ON THE FOUR SIDES AND ON THE BOTTOM AND THIS LINING IS IN EXCELLENT, UNDAMAGED CONDITION. THE BOX/CASE HAS A NICE BRASS LOCKING MECHANISM WITH A BRASS COVERED KEY HOLE AND COMES WITH ITS ORIGINAL KEY. THIS NICE HUMIDOR IS IN VERY GOOD ESTATE CONDITION AND IN APPROPRIATE CONDITION TO BE USED TO STORE CIGARS. THERE IS AN AGE/STRESS CRACK THAT EXTENDS ACROSS THE LENGTH OF THE TOP WHICH IS OFTEN FOUND ON 19th CENTURY BOXES REGARDLESS OF THE TYPE WOOD USED IN CONSTRUCTION. THERE IS ALSO A SLIGHT SEPARATION IN THE SEAM WHERE THE WOOD JUST BELOW THE TOP OF THE BOX. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF FAINT SURFACE SCRATCHES AND MINOR DINGS IN THE WOOD FROM NORMAL WEAR AND A VERY SLIGHT NICK ON THE BOTTOM OF ONE BACK CORNER. THESE MINOR FLAWS ARE MENTIONED FOR ACCURACY AND NONE DETRACT AT ALL FROM THE USEFULNESS OR THE BEAUTY OF THIS NICE CASE. Up for sale is a high quality antique handmade wooden Folk Art cigar humidor box. It’s made with exquisite detailing throughout out of dense wood and has a leather wrapped domed lid wrapped in leather. The leather is painted with a figural knight scene and fastened with large brass studs. The box is also painted on each side with gorgeous design done in rich color. It has dimensional mounted cold painted praying figures on each corner along with 4 outward facing lions. The handle pivots up and down on a ball joint exposing the hidden key lock underneath. It opens on a hinge and features a removable handmade toleware box that has a compartment for a humidor block under the lid. The box is in nice condition, has acquired a lovely patina from age, and measures 14 1/2 inches long by 12 1/2 inches wide by 11 inches tall.
