Rare quality antique 1800s Victorian handmade floral wood box sculpture folk art

Up for sale is a rare antique 19th century handmade V ictorian Folk Art wooden box. The box is made of a wooden base and finished with a lovely polychromed brown finish. It’s embellished with hand sculpted detailing throughout done with a very dimensional approach and features berries and flowers. It has a skeleton key locking mechanism but does not have a key. The box is in nice antique condition and measures 17 inches long by 9 inches wide by 9 1/2 inches tall. It is missing some sculpted pieces and has some cracking and chips as shown in all photos. Barn Find Victorian Hand-painted Shop Counter / Waiters Cigar Humidor / Box

A bit of a novelty, so for restoration I take pleasure in offering for sale this rather charming hand-painted Victorian cigar box which I suspect were used either on shop counters to display cigars, or because of the hoop to the back of the box it’s likely these types of cigar boxes were used by waiters to serve customers at the table. The box is of true antique age, but remains a solid / robust box with stunning dovetail joints, but let down by the obvious damage to the lid, so a certain amount of restoration is required. The box measures 30cm long x 18cm wide x 11cm tall.
