Absolutely fabulous antique French Napoleon III era 10 cigar chest, tantalus or presenter box with jet black ebony or ebonized finish & ornate two-tone metal appliqués or accents including front medallions with horseshoe framed busts of horse and hunting dog or hound! A simply marvelous piece, one of the more visually overwhelming with all of the pressed brass or ormolu appliqués and with the equestrian AND hunting motifs covered with those lovely front medallions! Not an actual humidor by function, the lid and front panels open up completely, tantalus style, to the sliding trays inside. Each tray with ten grooves to hold 3 7/8 long cigars or cheroots. A stunning decorative box, don’t miss it! Very good condition, age considered. The pictures are large and clear so look closely. There are a few flaws to note, the most obvious are the two small missing sections of reticulated trim along the canted back of the lid. There is also a small section of the base molding on the left side that has either split and been re-glued or replaced at some point. The inner cigar trays or drawers are all original but, due to age shrinkage of the overall panels, didn’t slide consistently on the box’s side rails so we added small black wood strips under the sides so they would stay on the rails. The lock works just fine and includes what appears to be the original old skeleton key. See pictures for all measurements. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important!
