A SWISS’BLACK FOREST’ FRUITWOOD HUMIDOR. Modelled as a cabinet, the top section surmounted by two carved birds perched on a naturalistic scene with hinged doors with original working brass lock and bolt along with the old original key opening to reveal 6 pull-out trays each for 8 cigars, to hold a total of 48 cigars each in shaped recesses. The bottom section with a single frieze drawer. Finely hand carved, 19th century Swiss artisans, Grand Tour souvenir of that area. The back of the cabinet is plain un carved. Each of the 6 sliding trays are in excellent condition and are 7wide x 4.5 deep. The chest stands a total of 14.5 including the carved birds up top. Please see the photos. Good condition for age and type. Has a number of old small chips/tips missing to the high relief carved flowers around the cabinet – one of the birds beaks has been chipped off and has a number of chips to the leaf around the pair of birds. Beautiful colour, the old patina, with high quality carving and construction. No damage to legs or other aspects of the cabinet. Not a soaking humidifier. Each of the 6 trays will take 8 cigars of up to 12mm diameter. Total un packed weight 2.290kg -5lb US. Total hight 37cm -14.5.
